A pilot's pants...

Ok, I give up... What pants can I buy that aren't going to rip and wear out on me in a little under 2 months. I've bought Target's and Walmart's brands which are just awful. I bumped it up to some Dockers and some Dillards brand and rrriiippppp... Sure enough, not even 2 months none of them are good to wear anymore. I'm not buying any different size than I've worn for years it just seems like they aren't holding up. I'm thinking of just buying some Dickies and ripping the tag off the back. What pants are you guys wearing? Does anyone else have this problem?

Are YOU still the same size? The ripping of the seams might not be a product issue.....just sayin' :D

I knelt down in the isle of our Citation to give our pax a briefing and I heard a pop, followed by the passengers smirking and laughing which was then followed by my crotch feeling more exposed than it was prior to kneeling down. I laughed along and then sat up front for three hours with crotchless pants. The lessons I learned:
I can't ware pants I baught when I was 22.
And even a $90 pair of pants will rip.

I don't know that there is a magical brand that won't rip, but Dickies have served me well for a while.

As much as no one likes M&H, their pants have lasted nearly 2.5 years for me.

Are you an airline guy who has to have specific color, or can you free lance a bit? Head to a uniform store, ie police/fire. I picked up a pair that are almost carhart like, but match our uniform color.

I wouldn't recommend M&H. They are more for lazy 121 pilots who don't move around a lot.
I'd go with the EMT/Police uniform place, since they are designed for exactly that.

Where are they ripping? The only time I've had a pair of pants rip is when I tried to do a jumping spinning back hook kick in a pair after work... riiiiip. Sure you're not bulging at the seams and need to step it up a size? That tends to happen to guys as they get a bit wiser (errr older) ;)

I always liked Land's End chinos. Seemed like a higher quality build and fabric, and much better cut and fit than your typical department store pants.

we're given dickies to wear at work, and I really don't care for them. They're durable, but almost too thick and kind of restrict movement. I switched to carhartts and like them a lot better. Just as durable and much more comfortable. They even make shorts for the summer time.

Also, dickies are ugly as hell.

Land`s end is not what it use to be anymore, the quality of their pants and clothes in general has gone down a lot, at least that`s my personal experience with that brand over the past 5-7 years.

I bought some pants from them to wear at my former part 91 job, I had no dress code but as I was the personal pilot of a fortune 500 so I guessed maybe I should try a bit harder then shorts and flips flops (that`s how he would dress in the plane)...anyway in less then a year of working there I used up 3 pairs, I`m pretty skinny but athletic and a size 30 is almost loose on me so I don`t think I was buying too small, anyway they all ripped at the crotch...got that fixed but what bothered me the most was the quality of the pockets, I had to carry many keys and the pockets would just get puncture over couple months and I would start loosing stuff...
