National Airlines B747-400 Freighter (BCF) Down in Bagram, Afghanistan

This is what I found on YouTube. I'm on an iPhone so I have no clue if its authentic or not.

Terrible. All that training, all the time racked up to be put under by something out of your control. Condolences to all.

According to the DALPA forum, a couple of the guys are Former NWA.

Having a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach would be an understatement...can't even begin to imagine what went through their minds on that.

RIP...to clear skies and tailwinds :(

Horrible accident.

The only solace and it's a small one, is they felt no pain.

Rumor is five military vehicles on board? I wonder if the NTSB will be on scene considering the airport/airline?

I recall hearing a story about a tranquilized, unrestrained lion/tiger/whatever being transported in a Caravan, waking up during the flight and walking around. It was a successful outcome, but if you were the pilot you'd be weighing the odds of losing control while fighting the lion, or being eaten while diving for the ground, all while trying to keep him in the CG envelope.

Throw a headset on him and strap him into the FO seat. Best party story ever.

This is scary! RIP

Not sure but wasn't this Greyhound crash the one where the first assigned pilot turned down the flight because of the way the cargo was "secured"? I could have the crashes mixed up but I'm pretty sure a backup pilot took the flight.

Just watched again and have a question for the 74 drivers. I noticed that the gear was still down. In normal ops, isn't it gear-up rather quickly after you leave the runway? I wonder why it was still hanging that far into the sequence (not that it would have probably made a difference but who knows)?
