I would think it would be simple. Most areas under approach and departure paths are parking lots and unsecured industrial areas. I dont think a terrorist would need to go out of their way to find a secure place to launch one. They could easily do it at a relatively close position. This all probably stemmed from some jackass making a bogus threat or warning. I just don't think there is a terrorist network with the reach to do something like this here anymore without getting detected.
The reason the cable news media didnt touch the story is probably because they didn't want to see Anderson Cooper attempt to explain what MANPADS are in front of a national audience.
