It doesn't seem right that someone who can't hold a 1st class is allowed to fly 121. A 1st class isn't hard to hold, there are plenty of ppl out there that make me wonder how they do it.Beginning August 2nd...
So, what happens to all the current FO's that can't hold captain because they are restricted to a 2nd class medical...?
Doesn't seem right.

I'm not referring to myself, only in general. Really what sprung to mind was one of our FO's that can't hold a first class medical because he was involved in a crash years back that was the result of shoddy maintenance and not pilot error.Start working on that "Medical Flight Waiver" like yesterday.
Curious what in the world HR was doing hiring pilots who weren't qualified to eventually upgrade to captain? Nothing personal, remember, I don't know you!![]()

Do these guys lose their jobs and was this considered beforehand? Doubt it.

Then please explain the point of offering a second-class medical..I thought all aircrew had to hold a 1st class medical... I'm with CFIT99 .....
Up until now Alaska Airlines only required a 2nd Class medical for FOs. Once a year is all I need, thankyouverymuch!
Now I've got to go every six months? EKG once a year? Grr.... I'm not worried about passing, it's just doubled my non-reimbursed expense.
It's for commercial flying privileges. By commercial, I mean for compensation or hire, not a 121 or 135 type operator... Hence why all airline pilots need 1st class medicals regardless of being an FO or Captain...Then please explain the point of offering a second-class medical..
Don't worry. Medicals are a 100% reimbursed expense on the Deltaborg Cubeship. Just wait for the assimilation. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!
It's specifically to give DPEs something to screw with you with on your Private and CFI orals. Then please explain the point of offering a second-class medical..
