Flight delays pile up Monday after FAA budget cuts

This actually goes ALLLLLL the way back to 2006/2007. 'W' decimated the FAA specifically the union controllers, cut hiring and forced many facilities into a shortage that they still have not recovered from. When Randy Babbitt took over the FAA it was the government agency with the worst morale in internal studies.

To say that Obama or the Democrats have anything to do with causing this situation is a grossly inaccurate statement. This situation starting coming to a head back when 'W' was in charge.
Somewhere I still have some of my black "W" stickers. Ill put one on Amorris flight case next month while he's asleep.

You Obama humping dummies do realize the sequester was part of White House strategy, right? It's his plan to make sure we want as much government as we can get...

Since this is a somewhat aviation-related topic, I don't think that I'm breaking my self-imposed JC-politics hiatus.

The Budget Control Act of 2011, which ended the debt-ceiling-fiscal-cliff calamity, had both Democrat and Republican support in the Sentate, and the House, and the President signed it. They all knew the sequester was in it, and it was intentionally designed to be as automatic and as inflexible as possible. They all bear the blame for not negotiating something better, as they should have. Both sides are equally responsible.

Can you explain? It was clear and a million yesterday and it was a ghost town at the destination field yet we were still delayed 2 hours.

These guys have something to do with it, as do the TMUs at each ARTCC you fly through.

It's funny that ATN liked your post considering he places the blame solely on the Republicans.

The entire issue exists solely because both sides have nothing to gain by doing their jobs, and think they can do better by blaming the other side. The Republicans and Democrats both created the mess.

I usually avoid politcal discussions on JC due to the douchebaggery that it stinks of...

BUT if one person believes that its one party and not another they are sorely mistaken, ITS BOTH PARTIES.

The above comment is correct, the reason why there is a mess, is because both sides want there to be a mess

Rules for running for office:
#1: Pretend in believing in a God.
#2: Make it look like it's the other guys fault
#3: Repeat

Ever seen the I Love Lucy episode where Lucy and Ethel work wrapping candy at the assembly line? It was basically that if the chocolates were airplanes and Lucy and Ethel were controllers.

Not enough controllers due to staffing, too many airplanes. You stop the assembly line or you risk dropping chocolates.

Well I understand the concept but my point is I saw plenty of fudge packers. Anotherwords, I flew the same route I always fly and even recognized the same controllers, checked into the same centers, departure, approach, tower and ground they were not saturated. In fact it was so quiet on all the freaks that ATC could have easily packed double the fudge or planes that were sitting on the ground waiting to be released.

...because of flow control.

I guess I know nothing about that, I usually avoid her during those 3 days.
Hurr hurr hurr hurr.

The purpose of traffic management units (the guys with the shiny new toys who think "big picture") is to make it so that the people pushing the arrivals aren't overloaded.

Honestly it doesn't mean anything that they were slow after the fact. I've kept airplanes on the ground for an hour or more by refusing releases in once emergency. By the time the emergency was on the ground I released the traffic who all sounded pretty bewildered when they called up at how quiet it was.
