Hired by Air Wisconsin...

Good contracts are great when your flying the line, but a good contract cant save you when your sitting on reserve making min guarantee..... They only fly aircraft that all the majors are trying to cut and have no new flying in sight. Its not a bad company, but there are plenty of other options that are not going to shrink.
American Eagle: 196 50 or less seaters
SkyWest: 159 50 seaters
ExpressJet: 355 50 seaters
Republic: 55 50 seaters
Pinnacle: 140 50 seaters
PSA: 35 50 seaters
AWAC: 71 50 seaters

Sure all AWAC has is 50 seaters. It's certainly a concern, the 2015 thing. But most companies have a large amount of 50 seaters, multiply by 10 the # and that is about how many pilots will staff it. As a new hire you're going to be at the bottom of the list for quite a while (furlough fodder).

AWAC's contract is strong in many areas outside pay. Scheduling, benefits, etc. I'm first to admit the reserve language is bad by comparison, but overall still good. Very rarely have I thought I was not getting paid fairly.

I'm sorry, my crystal ball isn't quite up to par today, maybe I could borrow yours. Sounds to me like you're angry that you couldn't get hired, frustrated wannabe is it? Look dude, want to be negative, go to another thread, start your own as this wasn't a discussion really. If you want to stay and cause issues, I'm up for that too, I can throw trash as well with the best of them. It's a regional airline, not exactly cream of the crop but it seems to have a better flavor cream than most in the regionals.

Gotta love a "my regional ding a ling is better/bigger than your regional ding a ling thread"!

All people had to do was keep it simple, not even say a word. I will tell you, from what I know and how I've been treated by Republic and looking at the contracts, there are better avenues than them. It's valid statement to say one is better than another but it always boils down to someone complaining or making a snide comment.

Not to continue the off-topic, but maybe to put it to bed...different people are looking for different things. Bunk's number one priority may not be flying the wings off the jet to get that magic turbine time...I heard he had a rich uncle who actually PAID him to fly a jet already. ;)

I see this over an Airline Pilots Crying and thus I rarely post anything over there but same here...que in sad face:(

You should be used to this. It's like a bunch of guys from different squadrons at a bar talking smack about other squadrons :)

AWAC is a small company you don't typically see those guys throwing crap around on public forums, just something to think about.

I know your former jumpseat chair :)

Time to change that!!! Seriously though, I look forward to working for them and hope to do so come 20 May, barring any unforseen circumstances. Though Republic and PSA were both professional units when I was there, I really liked the AWAC bunch.

4 of my friends work there and they LOVE it. Love the pay too! ;) As much as it would make me want to puke to go from turbine freight to a regional if I choose to pursue the 121 world, AWAC is at the top of the list, no question. At least right now...

Bunk shouldn't be criticized for going to Air Wisconsin. Bunk should be criticized for not being able to find a Lodestar or a DC-3 job. Let the beatdown commence.
DC-3? Yawn, DC-7 or Connie! Though the DC-3 is a taildragger, so I have no clue WTF I'm talking about...

Quick question: What would a realistic W2 form read from year 2 there?
Average, if my buddies are honest, 45-50k gross. Supposedly, if you brown nose scheduling enough, there have been guys that have pulled in 70-80 I've heard, but you'd have no life at all.

Crediting 2000 hours in a year? I know the contract is good, but a 2:1 credit to block ratio seems a little unrealistic for an entire year.

I'm suspicious in general. I've always been told "take the hourly rate, and multiply it by 1000" for a realistic number to plan for. I've always been a loud mouth about making more money doing "lesser things", so maybe they're trying to compensate? :)
