Is this for real Doug? Are we talking about the crew rest seat? Giving the seat up for personal gain?

The real question is if one gave up the seat in first and rode in the jumpseat would the FAA consider that adequate for an augmented crew? I'm sure it is cause, sadly, we run our 767's over 8 with nothing but a jumpseat. But we are freight, the red headed step children. I would hope you can do better.

Anyhow, your pic sets a bad possibly of a precedent to be set. The union should be all over this.
 
I've jumpseated on a bunch of United 777 and invariably the strangest, scabbiest, dumbest pilots I've ever met were in the left seats of those planes. The stories some (nice, normal) 777 crews would tell were absolutely horrifying.
 
Fortunately the classification of varied levels of crew rest should nip this one-man-band campaign in the bud!

I scalped it from the DALPA forum from a post whose author claimed that his EWR-based friend snapped a photo of.
 
Is the worry that if this ever came to fruition, the next contract would be Coach seats for all crew?

As an industry, we've fought long and hard for proper rest rules and augmented crew rest facilities.

Now a pilot, probably looking out for his own "best interests" is putting money over safety, much like we always rail against when management does so.
 
Been waiting for a chance to say this again... cue Rick James voice impersonation...... That was cold blooded!! :-)
 
The guy sounds like a major tool, but just out of curiosity doesn't the 777/787 have crew rest quarters? If so why the reserved first class rest seat?
