PSA CRJ incident

Well, I'm still confused with all this cloak and dagger discussion. I fly the equipment in question, and I have no idea what the devil "cutback" is, much less how to arm it. Goodnight, chumps! :)

What do you fly? The Dash has ignitors on it too, and they come on under certain conditions as well.
To be fair, ours come on automatically in certain conditions (well, condition) as well.

Like with the ignition switch in AUTO, and the corresponding start switch placed in START which makes the the starter-generator be a starter, not a generator (0-50% Nh)...but that's it.

*CLUNK* "IGNITION light out."

I have personally been in speed mode and watched the bugged speed go from 290 to 40 without anyone touching any buttons. Not saying that is what happened here but just because you are in speed mode doesn't guarantee your airspeed from dropping out like it does it speed or pitch modes. There have been more than a few reported cases of it happening.

-900 does it too. Supposedly they fixed the glitch.

But they'll let the PROBLEM work itself out? :)
Yeah, it's a freaky one. I cursed the first time it happened the captain couldn't understand what I was complaining about (probably because I was cursing every other word), after he pieced it together he said something like "Dammit I thought they fixed that!".

That CRJ is a POS sometimes.

Screaming_Emu won't admit it, but the reason that my employer is sending the Brasilias to be repainted in the new Continental-sort-of color scheme is so that there will be something for CRJ-200 crews to deadhead home on from the boneyard.

I had something like that happen in the 900. Climbing our we had the mid 20s selected. Through about 12,000 it "alts capped." After an alts cap the plane is rather aggressive at trying to maintain alt. So it pitched back quite quickly. Captain seemed pretty content to sit back and watch asking "what is it doing?"
