Training bond

Nice comment!

going back to the US is not an Aviation matter only, I grew up in Europe but lived a bit in the US too, I miss it, maybe because in the past 3 years I have only been there for 2/3 weeks at the time I don`t get the whole picture.

Bet you are a Libertarian?

Yeah. Kind of... I am just not a democrat and not a republican... :tinfoil:
I was taught and raised politically independent, unfortunately not a benefit our youth over here gets to enjoy, at least in public schools.

I have the same issue with having been gone from Europe for 10 years and only having had short visits. My folks assure me that I am still better off where I am, but that doesn't help much when the world goes nuts and recent European history (say 60 to 70 years) is shaping up to repeat itself with surgical precision. Recently, I find better opportunities presenting themselves in countries where Aviation has gone through the valley of death and is slowly coming back.We are just cruising downhill here, Kamikaze style - no regrets, don't ask for tomorrow.

Fortunately, most Americans still think everything outside the Divided (formerly United) States borders is the jungle and third world quality of life - collective ignorance and blindness benefits those of us who have a little bit of adventurous spirit left and are not afraid to learn a third or fourth language. I get the benefit of speaking with some rather well off retirees at times and none of them is too deeply anchored in this country. Mexico, Cuba, South America, Canada, France, Spain, Portugal, many are ready to jump, at a moments notice...

But for all its worth, I wouldn't worry too much about a flying job within the next 5-10 years here in the U.S. Once the first combat drone, out to hunt Obama critics, gets its wing whacked by one of us stinky little rich people (GA Pilots) there will be a major government mandated slowdown in all small stuff flying. Mobile TFR's, maybe even total NFZ's to protect the drones and allow the sniffers to fly and investigate their well protected sheep, freely.

My advise: Do exactly what your gut tells you to do. If you have a good woman, it will work without returning to the U.S. and you will find opportunities you didn't know you had.
IOW - if you feel like you can handle a training bond that will 'morally' (that's all it really is) tie you down beyond what you are willing to give, skip it or negotiate. I almost assure you, if you're honest and really want the job, do a good job and things go downhill for the operation, you won't be hunted down. Especially if your being there mandates a visa...

I'll tell you my own story of regrets and having turned certain opportunities down, just not here, but instead as a response to your PM. ;)

Swiss, I just want to know who is taking your spot flying singles around the islands.

Nobody really, the 206H went under the AOC of a local seaplane operator (deal that made me loose my job), they do my job of taking care of the airplane, the rich owner of the plane and the private island is a pilot himself (PPL), he thinks he can safely fly it himself now...happy not to have my signature anywhere in his logbook...there was no more need for me, after I left he got a local PPL to fly for him occasionally.....

At my other job, they got some new pilots recently, I posted the ad that they were looking on the forum.

I have been trying to get back there since I left, at the beginning I wasn`t so sad about it as I got hired on a twin in South America, that job turned out to be a big bust (no pay, bad management,...)

If I go back I will do so with my own little outfit, I would like to take a Maule M-7 on floats over there as there aren`t anymore seaplanes in the main capital island, I`m working a bit on that on the side...
