What does your screen name mean?

Mine is based on a popular Irish name which originated in 1171 when the Irish nobility couldn't correctly pronounce the Norman French name "Jean" with their drunken Gaelic accents. Its also happens to be my first name ;) The "D" is the first letter in my last name.

Mine came from 8th grade. Our family had had a computer for a month or so, but I still had no idea what to do with it, besides playing Mech Warrior that came with it. One of my buddies came over to help me setup an email account and AIM. I was completely into airplanes at that point (I guess little has changed), and he said try pilotman for a username. All taken. We tried every version we could think of, then he said, here we can type it like this p1l07m4n.

I was sitting there looking at it like, "WTF?" He tried to explain to me how it worked. I said sure, whatever. It has stuck since then. The worst part is giving someone my email address because it always goes like this, "Im just going to give it to you phonetically. It will make things more difficult on you if I don't."

Aerospace vehicle Stability & Control on the brain...Greek letter "alpha" for angle of attack. I think all the combinations of "Spaceman Spiff" I tried were taken, too.

First name: Roger.

And of course referencing Airplane. Though ever since Derg switched the software and the comma disappeared, it looks a lot more like a Battle Droid quote.

Hmm I just remember seeing deadpixel when I was playing counter strike source back in the day. Naturally I took it and the rest is history...Been using this handle for probably 7+ years.

Sometimes I go by dp or deepee

Mine might be obvious to some; for the others.....

Dustoff is the Army's way of saying "LifeGuard". I was an Army BlackHawk IP assigned to an Air Ambulance Company. My call sign was Dustoff17 when I flew as PIC.

Great thread.... staledog
