Do pilots have to buy their own shoes and epaulettes?

And what type of shoes are regarded suitable to wear for an airline pilot?

I personally wear Ariat Ropers, but your tastes may vary.
 
Ariat ropers here. Don't know what I was thinking before.

As for the uniform pieces, check the airlines contract. Colgan made us buy certain items, then we paid back via payroll deduction. #Scam
 
There's a guy here who wears the equivilant of dress Skechers shape ups. USN knows who he is.....
 
What's the beef with sketchers? The shapeups are totally obscene though. Not near as gag inducing as the guy I saw wearing black "toe shoes". BARF! :confused:

When you work for an airline, there's an issue.
 
What kind of sketchers are we talking about here? Purple ones? :) Alley cats look like docs but don't try to kill you when it's cold out, and I see plenty of airline pilots wearing Doc Martins.
