e-logbook vs green paper one

Hello everyone,

Just finished updating my hours on my paper logbook and ran out of pages, before I ruin a brand new logbook that I purchased a couple months ago I would like to ask what you think about electronic (logbook pro) vs paper ones...

Also, can I show up to an interview someday with an e-logbook only?

I use logbook pro and it works out very well. For the interview I would print out the logbook and had kinko's spiral bind it for me.
 
Can't speak to interviews, but I actually just got mine printed today. Went to OfficeMax, heavy paper, spiral bind, and black vinyl front and backs. $12

I went to FedEx office but mine looks just like Adlers except I actually matched up with the green paper. I interviewed at SkyWest with it. I hit the line next month so I guess they approved of it!
 
Electronic......no questions about it. When the time comes, like others have suggested, you go to Kinko's and have them print/ bind it. Very nice product and no worries about legibility of your handwriting.

yes. On a side note, the e-logbook I use is LogTen Pro for Mac's. ALso, check out a company called Logbook Solutions. If you want the green paper, they have that available. Personally I bought a bunch of green paper, which matches the Jepp color spot on, bought a black/silver binder, had Kinko's print out my stuff from a PDF file, and during my interview the chief pilot was more amazed at how fumazing it looked than what was actually in it, no joke.

EDIT: Thinking about one more thing... make sure you know the gouges for who you apply to... I hear some majors (if you're applying to them) prefer paper, like SWA, for example. I think I remember mentioning Delta and United are big into paper as well because they like to see mistakes honestly corrected instead of an error-free binder. Again, just ask someone higher up, as a few friends, purposely jumpseat on an airline you're looking to apply to and ask, etc... Good luck!

I also scanned all my endorsement pages from my paper logbook and had them printed and bound at the back of my electronic logbook. So, the electronic version is 100% accurate. I was meticulous when I added my paper log and strangely enough, I found a ton of mistakes once I converted everything to electronic.

I never thought to scan the endorsements into my electronic logbook; that's a good idea. Come to think of it though, nobody's looked at my logbook except for XJT. :P

It's been over a year since I last had my electronic logbook printed, so I can't remember exactly how much I paid. But, it only cost me around $10-15 to have it done and spiral bound at Kinkos/ FedEx Office....or whatever they're calling it these days.

If you supply the paper, $15. If you buy their 32lb white paper, $60ish. If you buy the green stuff... who knows. However, the Kinko's by me doesn't have the hole punch for the 2-hole style to fit the logbook solutions binder. I had to carefully line up the holes using a 3-hole adjustable punch by removing the middle post, and readjusting the outer 2 with a piece of white blank paper before making the final hole punches. Easiest way is just to buy the pre-done stuff.
 
Compass liked the printed one. Also, its easier on you for currency, and making route maps to throw in the annual "how much did you fly" thread on here each year!
