Express Jet/Eagle Checkride Busts

Hello all,

I've been a lurker for sometime now, and I finally joined. I'm looking to get into the 121 world ( Currently fly 135) and I'm interested in Express Jet or Eagle; However someone said if you have any checkride failures they will not hire you? I failed my CFI inital three times five years ago.

I now have 5500 TT 3000 Multi 2000 Turbine. CSEL ATP-MEL. Will they overlook the CFI bust from 5 years ago?

Not sure about Eagle, but XJT took me in back in 06 and I had one bust. The key thing is to be honest. Not every pilot with the airlines are squeaky clean.

BTW, welcome to JetCareers! :)

Eagle is desperate for pilots. As long as you have the 1500 I don't see you having any trouble getting an interview. I'd look around first though. Eagle would not be my first choice if airlines right now.

Serious advice...just be honest and show them that you have improved from the experience.

side note: I know several LGA based AE guys and they haven't flown at all, only about 5-10hr/month. Saying they are disgustingly heavy on FO's in LGA...is this unique to LGA? They call desperatly asking for flying, mainly to not be bored...

Same for JFK; MIA to a lesser extent. Word is out of the 80+ FO's in LGA only 30 have lines.

Most of my former contemporaries are apparently still stuck out there; some, though, did get awarded the Big D or Miami again in the last system bid.

Not flying on RSV is great as long as you live in domicile.

As people have said before, it looks a lot worse for someone to fail a few times then give up on it entirely.

The only sure way not to get hired is to not try. Period.

With that said, I know that here at Eagle checkride busts were a big deal last year during the hiring wave. Not sure how it will be in 2013 as we start another wave. These days the supply of pilots who meet ATP minimums and are willing to apply to Regionals is pretty slim.

My advice is apply. If you need any help let me know and I'll be glad to assist.

Have you applied? If not, you won't get the job. If you have, you are doing what you can to get the job and what you can control, be concerned about that. Some guy on an internet board could tell you no way no how with a bust. But your situation could be different and they could all come calling. So apply, see what happens and good luck! They should be falling over themselves to get someone with that kind of experience. I think you're selling yourself pretty short. If I were you I'd consider US Air, Jet Blue, Spirit etc far before anything with regional payscales.
