Replacement Certificates?

Just ordered new cards from the FAA because mine are deteriorating just from being in my wallet (PPL, A/P). Wondering how long I can expect to wait for my replacements. TIA.
 
When I changed my certificates to eliminate the SSN# from them it took less than two weeks to receive the new ones.
 
It will all depend on the load the FAA has at the time of request. I have seen them come through in about 7 days. I have also seen the process take a few weeks.
 
For those of you that still have Paper Certificates.

All paper certificate holders cannot exercise the privileges of their PAPER certificates after March 31, 2013. This includes all certificates that are issued under 14 CFR Part 63 and 65.

14 CFR 63.15(d) and 65.15(d) reads:
Duration of certificates. Except for temporary certificates issued under §63.15 and 65.15, the holder of a paper certificate issued under this part may not exercise the privileges of that certificate after March 31, 2013.
 
It has usually been under a week for me, even after earning a new rating after a check ride.

For pilots, the paper certificate expired on 3/31/2010. Are you referencing mechanics?
 
Thanks for the replies. My plastic certs are almost illegible and need to be replaced. I keep my original paper certs from the early 90's in my safe.
 
Weird that they require a reason for replacement and deteriorated isn't an option. I'm hoping the new ones will be higher quality. I'll let you guys know when I get them.

Maybe not I got this today. It reminded me that I have not changed my Ground Instructors Certificate yet.

If you have already replaced your paper pilot certificate, then this message is not for you. On the other hand, if your pilot certificate is still printed on paper, please read carefully.
The FAA is under a mandate to replace all paper certificates with plastic certificates. If you do not replace your paper certificate on or before March 31, 2013, you will no longer be able to exercise your privileges!
All certificated Airmen, including mechanics, repairmen, pilots, etc., are required to replace their paper copy with a plastic copy, or they will no longer be able to exercise the privileges of that certificate.
The best way to get a new replacement certificate is to follow the instructions at http://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/airmen_certification/certificate_replacement/.
The replacement cost is $2.00, unless you still have your Social Security Number on your certificate and you ask to have it removed.

Im just as confused as you on what the true day is. This is from the eCFR (current to November 27, 2012):
§ 61.19 Duration of pilot and instructor certificates.
(a) General. The holder of a certificate with an expiration date may not, after that date, exercise the privileges of that certificate.

(b) Student pilot certificate.

(1) For student pilots who have not reached their 40th birthday, the student pilot certificate does not expire until 60 calendar months after the month of the date of examination shown on the medical certificate.

(2) For student pilots who have reached their 40th birthday, the student pilot certificate does not expire until 24 calendar months after the month of the date of examination shown on the medical certificate.

(3) For student pilots seeking a glider rating, balloon rating, or a sport pilot certificate, the student pilot certificate does not expire until 60 calendar months after the month of the date issued, regardless of the person's age.

(c) Other pilot certificates. A pilot certificate (other than a student pilot certificate) issued under this part is issued without a specific expiration date. The holder of a pilot certificate issued on the basis of a foreign pilot license may exercise the privileges of that certificate only while that person's foreign pilot license is effective.

(d) Flight instructor certificate. Except as specified in § 61.197(b), a flight instructor certificate expires 24 calendar months from the month in which it was issued, renewed, or reinstated, as appropriate.

(e) Ground instructor certificate. A ground instructor certificate is issued without a specific expiration date.

(f) Return of certificates. The holder of any airman certificate that is issued under this part, and that has been suspended or revoked, must return that certificate to the FAA when requested to do so by the Administrator.

(g) Duration of pilot certificates. Except for a temporary certificate issued under § 61.17 or a student pilot certificate issued under paragraph (b) of this section, the holder of a paper pilot certificate issued under this part may not exercise the privileges of that certificate after March 31, 2010.
