Another HIRED Thread!

Hey Guys,

Some of you at NJC may have heard I'm in the midst of a career change (actual career). Well keeping the details somewhat limited for now, I'll splurge a little bit. I've made the switch from private airline industry to the public government sector.

I got hired with a Police Department in their Airport Unit. It's a quasi Airport Operations job mixed with Law Enforcement.

I'm leaving SWA in the next week and should be starting training the following week! It's going to be a blast taking on the new challenge!

Thanks to Doug and Kristie for having this site! It's been a wild ride!
 
A couple weeks in and heres some observations:

Coming from a private industry with the focus being on customer service, I was in for a rude awakening learning how to deal with people has to change. When someone is trying you for your life, words don't work at that point.

I'm extremely out of shape compared to what I thought.

People don't like you for no other reason than you're the 'fuzz.'

Situational awareness to the 2938807823107823th degree.

That is all for now. I'm loving the new gig and am excited to when I get kicked out to being just by myself!

So are they training you to be a full on police officer, or just sort of a step above rent-a-cop?
