Police in New Jersey are investigating a helicopter crash that occurred in a field near Route 1 and Quakerbridge Road in West Windsor Township.

West Windsor Police described the event as a "small helicopter crash" and asked residents to stay away from the area. Authorities also said that there were no survivors. It is not known how many people were on board. No identities have been released.

A photo posted on Twitter by user @KaceyCarrig showed a cloud of black smoke rising from what appeared to be the crash site. "Scariest thing ever," Carrig wrote. "Just walked out of a store and saw a helicopter fall out of the sky and crash."

Melax -

The pilot killed in the crash is my cousin, Mike Scarfia. The helicopter he was flying was a Eurocopter AS355.
He flew for a financial firm in NY. He was taking some people to Princeton and was on the return trip when the crash occurred.
He was a pilot for about 40 years. He owned his own plane. He also flew for Jet blue - commuter flights in NYC and helicopters - after he retired from the NYPD. He left behind his wife, a daughter and 3 grandsons, along with 2 sisters.
We are brokenhearted.
