Leasing an airplane to build night time.

So I am coming up on all of my ATP mins except for night time. I am currently flying pipeline so there is not much hope for more night flight; currently sitting at 40.

Has anyone ever leased a small single to build flight time? Assuming I can find a lessor, what would it cost dry to lease, say a 150?

I found a C-152 H model at KCNO for $44 dry. I forget if it was Dubois or Corona. Talk to Bob at Corona, he leases planes for time builders.

To just build 50-60 hours, it's worth talking to some local FBO's and flight schools about a block rate deal. From a business perspective, an experienced pilot who wants to buy a block of time is golden. The fact that you want to fly at night, when the planes are mostly sitting not making money might mean they're willing to cut a little extra special deal... but realize that there isn't much profit margin on airplane rentals to begin with, so dont expect massive price cuts.

I have a 150 and can do $40/hour dry, but I'm in north Idaho, dont know where you are.

Assuming you have a CFI, you might look into something like a deal with the FBO where you would buy a block of time and conduct a course specializing in night currency and training offered at some reduced rate to students. That way, the students could get quality training on a specific subject cheap, you would get your night time with less cash outlay, and the FBO will always be happy to have more business.

Air America has 150/152 for $77/hr wet if you buy blocks of 10hrs. That's probably cheaper than leasing for that amount of time.

Where are you, based? I know of a couple who would lease it much cheaper
