Hello all, I will be attending UND starting Fall 2012 (in a month) and was looking at headsets. Up to this point the FBO I have been training at provided some worn down headsets. I have flown with others who had the Bose ones... Amazing but probably a tad bit out of the budget.... any ideas from those who have gone through this?
Thanks,

Don't get the David Clarks.

ASA AirClassics HS-1A

These are half the price with a lifetime warranty and all the David Clark accessories fit on it. I've had mine for 13 years and not a problem. When I was working at an aviation shop, ASA was the only company to take a headset back no questions asked and give you a new one.

That is the standard flight school worn down headset that most are trying to get away from! :)

Go with DC.
I can't stand Bose or Lightspeed, they clamp down right on my mastoid.

So for someone going for a ppl how much of a difference is there between something like the David and Clark H10-13.4and something with anr like bose x

I don't know the resale value of a Bose, but due the high number of people who never finish their PPL, I suggest you get DC or borrow the flight schools in the beginning.

Don't buy Bose :) They are expensive and clamping force is brutal after only 4 hours leg. Unbearable after 11 hours. Get something like Halo et al.

For the very little amount of flying you'll be doing, just get the DC. Upgrade in the future when you actually fly 5+ hours a day every day.

I have the David Clarks and they work great for me. They're pretty much universal for flight training, I've never seen anybody wearing an expensive Bose or Lightspeed headset in a Cessna.
