Is there a time estimate on Moncton and Gander getting CPDLC services?

I work, buddy! I fly a Boeing!

You just beg the autopilot, in FRENCH of all languages, to enable you to do something as simple as turn left. BOOM!

:)

Oh pluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I had more landings during my last two day trip than you have had the last two months. Y'all don't need to even program the FMS, just put in the winds! Furthermore, rule one of Airbus Flying is it will fly like any other airplane. No begging from me to do anything. Although the wifey is liking me talking sweet French at work as I bring the French talk home to her....

Technically, I don't even put in the winds, just the runways, arrival and departure.

But, mon frère, doesn't Hans Solo do the typing? :)

Depends! Had a MCDU MEL'ed a few weeks ago on Hans's side so I had to do it. Also, if I get to the plane early, I plug it in or if it is my leg, sometimes, Hans lets me program it and then he checks it.

Weird. Not sure why you asked that question then! :)

They will probably just get ADS like Western Canada.

"Freight Clown 1234 checkin' on wit' cha three eight oh, cee-pee-dee-el-cee"

"Freight Clown, Edmonton center. ehhhh? doncha know we don't have CPDLC, only ADS"

Heard that about 10 times last night. I guess pilots were trying to send them weather deviation requests through CPDLC and wondering why they got no response.

I've yet to see an FIR who willingly uses CPDLC for ATC communications when they have VHF comm coverage, unfortunately. Seems like it would go a long way toward alleviating frequency congestion in places like Gander Center and getting rid of language/accent issues in places like China & Russia.

Done with my psuedo necro....

But the Boeing doesn't call you a retard repeatedly during the flare. I mean, how rude is that! Stupid Frenchies..... :p:)

While I'm the process of bumping my post count.... I'll clarify a bit more.

AFAIK you can expect an EARLY EARLY christmas gift.... very early.

Not only that, initially there will only be limited functionality, no clearances will be issued other than frequency changes, and you will be able to send requests.

Another 6-10 months after (so im told) we will open up further functions. Idea being to implement slowly, for safety reasons.
