Got my first 'real' lesson scheduled, have the money saved up for FW -> RW add-on, time to do it! I'll be flying an S-300C, North Texas during the summer. I'm sure I'll be glad to have the doors off. Any good reading or anything to watch/study up on before going? I have 'Chickenhawk' on order and am currently reading 'No Man Left Behind' while studying up for the AFOQTs hopefully will be talking with someone from the HH-60G unit in Florida soon.
 
"Principles of Helicopter Flight" by W.J. Wagtendonk. It's not the best out there, but it gets into all the technical theory of helicopter flight. It'll give you a good understanding of what's happening with the helicopter aerodynamically while you're trying to figure out why it's drifting left, or the nose is trying to go right, or why it tries to pitch back during takeoff. In helos, the more you know about what's going to happen before it actually does, the better you're going to fly...same as airplanes.

Most any companies would love to have a Fighting Texas Aggie in there staff! WHOOP! Unfortunately , most Texas A&M Aggies are running companies instead of working for them!

When I was in training, "Aeroscouts" was almost mandatory reading. I second "The Fez", the more you know, the more comfortable you will be. The Fez
 
If you're going that way, Dustoff and Low Level Hell. The 300 is an awesome ship...compared to a 60.

We have a former "training wheeled equipped" helicopter IP here. I told him I just saw the most efficient 60 ever made on my way to work. It was on a flatbed.
 
So I'm in the same boat as the OP. I'm looking at getting Commercial RW addon in the spring. I have been looking online a bit and haven't really found any sort of decent prep books for this. I'll take a look at the "Principles of Helicopter Flight" book mentioned above. Ideally I'm looking for something like the Gliem books but unfortunately they don't have ones for rotor wing.

I would suggest reading the FAA Rotorcraft Flying Handbook before reading J. Wagtendonk's book. Its a little more basic. Also Jeppesen makes a helicopter manual and textbook for the 300 series aircraft.
