I've actually had throttles slip back on their own.

That was one of my favorite things to do. Only I'd distract them and slowly work the throttle out to a very reduced setting.

Teaches good airspeed control through pitch.

Same here. My CFI burned it into my brain as well.

I've had a mixture control work itself back to too lean to run in a radial engine airplane. Was interesting, lots of frantic movements when it tried to quit.
