What do you guys use?

You do realize that TCAS is now an option on the Cirrus instead of TIS right? Most don't know the difference and use them interchangeably though, so I somewhat agree with you.
 
Negative Contact if I don't see them. If I think I might see them, "looking," if I have them in sight, I've found saying "contact" doesn't really help you at all and ATC usually says, "uhh, you have them in sight?" So I usually say, "traffic in sight."

Are you saying they have TAS instead of TIS and are calling the active interrogation TCAS?

I go with "tally ho on me fish finder traffix, lolcatS" ATC usually responds with "w3rd."

I'm on a iPad so my surfing ability is limited. From what I can tell though, if you buy the proper TAS system from Garmin it's certified as TCAS 1 complient system and meets all FAA requirements.

Is this a Traffic Avoidance System system?
Anything like an ATM machine or PIN number?

TIS is ground based information relayed to the plane. TAS and TCAS are transponder to transponder.
 
I wait for the TCAS TIS TAS TIT or what ever the hell it is we have on the plane to announce "traffic traffic" and push the mic to transmit the robotic voice to the controller and giggle. Don't laugh it takes a lot of skill to time it right and not catch the giggle at the same time.
 
"looking for traffic" "traffic in sight". Recently I heard a pilot ask, "Is it big or small?" definitely a, "that's what she said" moment.
 
Honestly, unless I "need" to have them it's... Looking, even if I see them I don't want the same level of services. Anyways for us 121 guy, most traffic calls are informational/ convenience only. Even with them in sight most controllers keep IFR separation requirements.
