I wish it was me going to Cair lol. Aguadilla is nice, my grandmother lives in Marbella, just off of PR-2 (I think?). Just up the road from crash boat.
 
Congrats! So how long is the training class? Also, do you know what region they use FOs? Mid Atlantic?

Sadly, the 140 will be staying in Nebraska. I've already put Phillips 66 Anti-Rust Oil in the engine and will be taking out the battery next week. Planning for it to be in storage until at least next summer, possibly longer.

I'll be using my hangar to store the rest of my life, too, if I end up in the Caribbean. I think I'll be able to fit my car and some other random household stuff in with my plane.

It hit me this week how bummed I am to be leaving what's been "home" for the past four years. But such is life. I'm still looking forward to the flying at Cape Air and all the possibilities for the future.
 
Cape Air is infamous for flying VFR in IMC out in da islands... I see/hear em every day. Not sure why they dont take 5 more minutes to just get an IFR clearance.

Congrats on the new job though!

It's bittersweet to be leaving my current gig. I've had a blast and worked with some fantastic people, doing some fantastic flying. Just yesterday I delivered a Cessna 172 from Nebraska to Montreal, QC. Very few pilots get to have those sorts of adventures on a regular basis like I have.

Still, I knew it was time to do something different and I'm very confident I made the right decision to go with Cape Air.

Training will begin mid-September.

No, I'm in the Midwest region. But I have no regrets. I'm very happy here. Cost of living is much cheaper and I'm able to travel more on my days off (jumpseating out of STL versus SJU).

I might go to the Caribbean next season, when I have more seniority which equals better schedule/pay.
 
I am hoping for a job offer and a midwest base. Any tips on the interview? I am headed to Boston Wednesday.

I posted an interview gouge in the "Interview Experiences" forum that you might find helpful.

Pretty much be a nice guy and show that you can both operate safely in a single pilot environment and deal with passengers.

They aren't trying to trick you or weed you out during the interview. They're only trying to make sure you'll fit in at the company.

Yeah... I think that is right... I own part of a timeshare in Isabela right now and am looking into some land for when I get big kid airline job.

Ahhhh.... so you know B.W. then? He was flying pipeline patrol in TX before getting on with CAir....

Cool. I'd consider moving to P.R. for a flying job. Though, I'd have to brush up on my rusty Spanish first

Hey are you based in STL? I was on the 8:30 STL-CGI flight last Tuesday night. The one that had to "turn around and go back". HAHA

Yeah, BW is a great guy! We had some good times together while training out in Hyannis. He has an opposite schedule to me now that we're both out flying the line, but I run in to him in the crew room when I'm jumpseating in/out on my days off. Honestly, he's one of the best guys in the region, IMO.
 
I air returned for lots of stuff at Cape. Take your pick of things that could go wrong in a 30 year old 402.
