The instructor who got me through CFI and the majority of CFI-I is looking for a job in the Atlanta area if anybody knows of anything please let me know. He is one of the most stand up guys I know. He is at about 1100 TT and over 100 multi. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all in advance!

Where was he working in Atlanta before? What are his long term goals? What is he looking for now?
Tell him to join the website.

He was previously an instructor at Middle Georgia College working predominately as a CFI and CFI-I instructor but has since moved to the Atlanta area. Ideally he would like to work towards a full time corporate position in the Atlanta area, but in the mean time is looking for employment in flight instructing and some part time 135/ 91 operations. And as a side note will be joining the website in the near future. Thanks for the help Gonzo!

If he is interested in contract instruction he can probably get checked out at Skybound (www.skybnd.com) at PDK. There are also few other flight schools on the field that he might be able to work for as well.

If he can get Dan Emin at Quality Aviation at PDK to like him and hire him. Dan might come off as an ass but he cares about his pilots and pays very well but he doesn't want time building CFIs. He wants guys that what to CFI and then work the 135 side of the company.

If MGC is still paying their Instructors what they did when I was there (it was Ga aviation TC then) it will be hard for him to find anything that pays close to that as a CFI only. There use to also be a great network for jobs out of that college. Has that dried up? As others have mentioned PDK would be the best place to network and get in with 91/135 outfit.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions I'll definitely pass them along to him.

The majority of the instructing positions at MGC are hourly now instead of salaried due to state budget cuts in the past couple years. As for job opportunities and network to help graduates of the program, we are working on getting the name of the school out there and building that network back up.

Ah well that make sense. I should have known that gravy train wouldn't last forever down there. There was a lot of good people and equipment when I was down there. I went down a few years ago just to visit and was suprised at how much it has changed. How many aircraft is the school running now? When I was there they had a fleet of 172s, warriors, 2-3 Arrows, 2 Seminoles, 2 300cb helicopters and the C90 King Air. When I first started down there they were still doing a turbine transition course in the C90 for like ~$400/hr!!!

The equipment is still really nice. They got rid of the 172's a couple years ago and now have 7 Warriors, 3 Arrows, 2 Archers, 2 Seminoles, and 2 300cb helicopters. They dont have the King Air or the turbine transition course anymore either.

Glad they kept the aircraft in good shape! I still have dreams about how cheap the prices were back in the early 2000s. I wish I would have did my fixed wing training down there then too! Are you a CFI there now?

I interviewed a couple weeks ago and found out I got the job but am not starting until March 1.
