Its based on one of Berlin's airports and located in Berlin's National Transportation Museum. It was funded by the state, and I hear its worth admission just to check this out. In this video, the head engineer is testing out the kinks, normally its running non stop with stuff taxiing, GSE servicing the airplanes, and stuff landing and taking off constantly.

its a cool plane, but not even 1000 lbs useful, and where are you gonna dock the damn thing? Give me a 185 on floats any day of the week.

It still holds the seaplane speed record at 440mph. Powered with a Fiat V-24 of 3,100 hp. I wonder what that sounds like? Imma build a replica if I could find a motor. Then, I'll fly it to OSH and be the first seaplane to ever win overall Grand Champion. Then you'll all respect and fear me.

Are you sure about that? What about the Convair XF2Y-1 "Sea Dart," which exceeded mach 1 (though not in level flight )?

I didn't realize it had a tailwheel until I watched the video. They actually taxi it up the amphibious boat ramp at NAS North Island.

Turbojet + Delta Wing + Retractable Hydroskis on oleo struts + haz tailwheel = Bad Ass.

That plane is based at Coolidge, AZ. Still painted up in that paintjob, as it's a former Delta bird, but all Delta titling was ordered to be removed by Delta, who didn't like it being on that aircraft, even though it was obviously dated and not current.
