Expat Back To U.s. - Need Opinons

So I have the opportunity to leave my current regional FO job and fly 737's around Central and South America. I've got some really good input from a few people here but wanted to put a question out to the greater JC group.

With the type and SIC time, would it be a viable option to come back to a US carrier without PIC time eventually?

Thanks for the input guys

Maybe...

In the current environment, no. You'll probably end up just about where you left. Either back in the right seat at a regional or maybe, if you are lucky and have some contacts getting on with JetBlue. All of the majors are going to have thousands of resumes of RJ Captains who have thousands of hours of PIC. It's going to be very difficult to get noticed in that pile. I know a bunch guys at Airways how have over 10,000 hours in the Airbus and over 20 years at a major and can't even apply to a place like Virgin America because they don't have the 1000 hours of PIC required.

In the future, if things get as crazy as some people think they may, it is entirely possible that you will be able to write your own ticket despite not having any jet PIC. But that is far from a certainty.

Ok, thanks for that... I'm up in the air about it because if I stay at my current gig and things don't go really south, then I could see myself upgrading possibly in the next 1.5-2 years and then build the PIC from there....

Or I could leave and risk it

Thats a hard call...are you married or have an SO that would have input? It's like russian roulette...I left the regional I was at and had about 800pic time....and am hoping for the best! Good luck with your decision!

I have been thinking about putting my stuff in at Copa, can you PM what the time line is like for applying to interview and what the interview(How many days and how many parts?). Also what is the pay for an ex-pat FO?
