Bad Week For Aerosim

It appears landing on roads is part of their standard training. Maybe they should relocate to Alaska? ;)

I don't know if I'd give more credit for it being at night around here. It is almost easier to fly at night and he landed on a highway which is VERY easy to spot at night. Florida is pretty light at night, so it's pretty easy to see even really late.
 
Explains why they are hiring instructors ... Gotta have a pretty high turn over if you are wrecking 2 planes a week. I am sure the FSDO is going to have fun poking around there now. 2 bad examples of airmanship in a week. Were they both solo flights or was the one that ran out of gas dual?
 
Yeah it sucks, I never worked/went there but I'm familiar with there program. And since I hear them a lot and often share the skies with them down here...it always reminds how unsafe CFIing can be... I've had enough close calls myself.
 
Its a huge risk that many cfi's take when they work at a pilot factory. Lots of guaranteed hours, but I don't know that I could dela with always being forced to try to push people through. I think too much in some cases.

Where did you hear one of them ran out of fuel?

How is this bad airmanship? They didn't kill anybody and didn't ball up the plane. Seems like he did a good job to me. Now, if we ran out of fuel, that is another matter.
 
Aerosim has some of the highest standards iv seen, and the maintenance staff are top quality. When you see things like this you have to realize that this is part of training. The cirrus aircrft are all pretty much running all day every day being abused by people learning to fly.

Yeah because every school has two pilots landing on roads within a couple of weeks of each other. ;)

Following the magenta line into the ground is certainly not good airmanship regardless of how little damage you do to the plane or yourself.
If the second incident was fuel exhaustion then that is obviously the pilots fault, if not then I will be the first to say they did a good job.

Uh, I've been through the state a few times. A majority of it, outside of the cities, is covered by tall trees and the marshy everglades. I don't think I'd discredit how lucky/skillful this pilot had to be to find a highway and get on it.

I certainly didn't like my options when I was looking around thinking 'what if' while flying low level in a C206 through Florida, or much of the Southeast, for that matter.

And many of the trees have water under them. And gators.

Because you have so much experience with engine failures at night and landing on a highway? Especially considering your vast aeronautical experience as a private pilot. Right?? Ignorance lol :clap:
