Nice...so as usual we have regional pilots pissing on other regional pilots. Is it any wonder with all the hate and vitriol going on out here that nothing in this industry ever changes.
 
I would agree that many mainline pilots have no clue about GoJet. I was j/s a few weeks ago and the topic came up. "What is GoJet???" was the question from both of them.

No you have regional pilots following the rules. If there is no jumpseat agreement then they can't ride, sorry. They are listed as a D6L were I work, that means we can only take 1 Gojet jumpseater and he/she must be the first jumpseater listed. If they aren't the first jumpseater listed then we can't take them at all.

To be honest, I don't go there anymore. Got sick of the same 10 guys carrying on the same argument in every thead. Kinda like the L&G thread on APC. At least on APC, I get to watch the fun between the LCC/AWA and AAI/SWA combatants!
 
Oh, the "I'm buying GOLDzzzz!!!" "OMG, Donut Spammer!" or the "It is preposterous that the 777 pays more than the A330" crowds? :) Oh and the dorks that can't seem to figure out the quote-a-post feature and the post looks like something off of a Mexican Restaurant menu.

Curiously, why should they care about what GoJet is or isn't? Doesn't affect them at all.

No not really. You see instead of my company getting pissed on a few years ago, we took action that lead to us being a respectible place to work. If someone is going to undercut that by going to a place like GoJet, you may run into those that don't appreciate it and you may be finding another ride.
 
Union has responded. Basically said merger needs to get done ASAP in order to compete using the 'economy of scale' advantage.

Really? Guess I'd be wasting my breath then by reminding you that you are playing right in to their hands. Do you not realize the most hated airline (xyz) changes almost monthly with the next merger, or contract announcment. Management continues to win this game because they successfully deflect the blame off themselves by convincing you (the pilot) that it wasnt them (mgmt), but that other pilot group (xyz airline) that PURPOSELY screwed you over. I guess its ok to keep up the hate, after all we are winning the battle...really we are, cant you tell?

You know what I've found over the years?

The only people that make arguments like this don't work at an airline, and certainly don't work at a regional.

Agreed...but as long as Inc decides to keep operating more than one airline, the argument of "we just aren't cost competitive" doesn't fly with me. I can think of some redundancies that could be eliminated quite easily. And honestly the fact that they give skywest everything we negotiate for because they're afraid they might unionize pretty much kills that advantage too.

Interesting, and thank you for your honest answer despite my initial post being less than serious. However I don't think that the "regional rat race" problems will be able to stay out of the majors forever. As regional captains slowly upgrade into the majors over the coming years I wouldn't be surprised if these feelings linger and percolate gradually through the pilot group. Therefore I wouldn't recommend other new guys in my position (still trying to finish college and knock out post-private ratings no less even think about flying for a living) to take this thread as an endorsement that there are no longer ramifications for working there. I personally don't know much about the history of TSA and the spinning off of GoJet other than what I've read on this forum, and personally (sorry guys) it really seems so far in the past that at this point the militantly anti-GoJet regional guys are probably punishing a completely new and different pilot group for the actions of the original offending one. However if there's one thing I've learned from this forum it's that unions and pilot groups have very long memories (i.e. people still being on the "official scab list" for transgressions that occurred before I was born).

Therefore given the opportunity I'm still not going to apply to work there, because I know that there is an entire younger generation of pilots (or at least a very vocal minority of them) who feel disenfranchised and pissed off by the whole thing. Given my potentially extremely slow career progression time line (and my past experiences with Murphy's Law haha!), I suspect that by the time I was ever ready to apply to the majors those same guys are going to be the ones sitting across from me at the interview table. :)

I think Seggy touched on this a little, however, it is important for everyone, even nigel, to know why. Mesaba had an alter ego carrier, Big Sky, who was created to destroy our contract value. We traded off some things for scope (including agreeing to PBS and the one pay scale for all FO's) and effectively cut out any growth on the Big Sky side. Big Sky was even offered membership and it was slapped away. Since then Mesaba has had a combative attitude towards any alter-ego carrier.

Those of you who work at GoJet's can ask the moustache little napoleon from TUP why we take extra time to deny GoJet from our jumpseaters. He and the ticket agent had some agreement where they would list him as a jumpseater on our flight, then immediately move him to the back so no one would know. It's frustrating and enraging all at the same time.
