Where is all the rentals in North Texas??

Hey all,

Just grauduated Air Force basic training, im stationed up at Sheppar AFB for 3 months for tech school. Been looking around online, and the closest place that rents is up in OK. I'm from the north east, theres a FBO with rentals at about every field, or so it seems. Down here is just the opposite, anyone from the Whichita Falls area with some local knowledge?

It's been many years since I've been there, but Kickapoo Downtown airport, on the south side of town, used to have a handful of GA airplanes for rent.
 
Congrats! Does Sheppard have an aero club? According to airnav.com, Kickapoo airport does have flight training / aircraft rentals. 940-766-1735 is their phone number. Looking at the sectional chart, there are also a few other airports in the area you could check out (Wichita Valley, Grandfield, Archer City, Bowie, Willbarger, Walters, Frederick, etc). Some in Oklahoma, some in Texas, but Sheppard is so close to the border anyway. Good luck!
 
Thanks! Yep, Kickapoo sure does, this should be a lil different then flying back home in New England!

I wonder if the Cessna I used to rent, N20454, is still there.

I used to like to fly down to Breckenridge and around a lake that is in that area. Lots of boaters and other stuff to look at when just building time, having fun, going on a date, etc.
