United with Continental Livery?

I am seeing quite a few jets at MCO with the Continental livery on the tail and 'United' in large letters on the side.

Picture the Continental jet in the background, but with the 'UNITED' replacing the "Continental"

What am I missing?

You're not missing anything, CAL just had no airplanes that needed repainting, so they tossed "United" on the side and called it good.

United still has three different paint schemes flying around.

They are merging. And what you witnessed is the new paint scheme.

Thats the official merged livery.

Reminds me of those post deregulation hiddeous abortions of a paint job they did just to get the new airline name on the side.

Stooopid if you ask me. Surejet stoooopid.

I wish they would have kept the United Livery. UA's blue tulip is of the best liveries out there, and CO is one of the worst. A light gray belly with white on top just doesn't stick in your head well. The CO logo is very forgettable as well

Me too, I really quite liked the blue and white United colors. The CO livery is pretty bland and outdated.

Sometimes you'll see up to 5 different paint schemes next to each other at IAD. New one, battleship grey, blue one, star alliance, and aer lingus colors ;-)

Yuck!

I prefer the Continental livery--it just makes sense to me. Putting the word 'UNITED' on there just ruins both.

My first thought was that United was short on cash and was hoping nobody would notice the Continental vertical stabilizers that they borrowed.

Well that sucks.

Of Topic, by why do Mainers/Maniacs but 'R's in 'Baah HaaaBaah ?'

SAB's is from Maine and one day she looks at me and says, ' DA HAH!' and I said back, "da hah? What the heck does 'da hah' mean?" She was saying the Mainer version of "duh huh".

and do not get her started on the difference between a Mainer and a Maniac. She is one of em, but I forget which and am too scared to bring it up!

Take it from me, Maine women know how to throw a punch.

Crack is bad.

I think we could all agree that the "mash up" of the two liveries is a complete failure aesthetically.

I'd like to see the United brand burned in a ceremonial fire and completely done away with. A once proud line wallowing along with miserable employees and some of the worst customer service in the industry needs a fresh start. Like maybe "Contited" or "Unitanental"... :p
