SkyWest Hiring FOs

had an interview at skywest, waiting to hear back. Interview was crm, tech, and simulator. At the end of it I had a debrief, the asked what i did right and wrong. I went over it. They said study some specific approaches and they would let me know. That was
about it.

^ Very - Last I heard new hires went to ORD, but managed to get DEN based within a month. So IAH out of the box would be likely. But word from on high is that reduction in fall block hrs has the company overstaffed with pilots, and no new hiring.

Take that as you will though, it's not uncommon to hear that as a scare tactic from mgt.

Offical/Realtime Skywest Attrition numbers:

Within the last month: 14 Pilots quit (8 FO's, 6 CA's) 35 Newhires added
3 Months: 55 Pilot Quit (30 CA's & 25 FO's) 164 Newhires added
6 Months: 92 Pilots Quit (46 CA's & 46 FO's) 261 Newhires added
1 Year: 155 Pilots Quit (75 CA's & 80 FO's) 346 Newhires added

SLC has been the domicile most consistently that has had the highest "loss rate" as far as people quitting.

People are fed up. Some people have hired on at other airlines, a LOT have just said to hell with it and moved on with life doing something else. Unfortunately It's nowhere near the company it was 4-5 years ago as far as how the management treats the employees, and runs the company (Re: "Chip-away", the Deffered way is the perfered way, Mesafication, etc.... these are all common ways to describe what's going on), staffing so low that nobody can get a day off unless it's a platinum day or a sick call. Reserve rules are nearly non-existent and what they do have tend to be treated as a flexible suggestion by crew support.

Company average for missed days of work for pilots (Sick or Emergency calls): 9.5, That has jumped up from 5.5 in less than 10 months.

Now management is trying to get the company morale up with news of a Q400 RFP for Uni/Cal, but they are whispering that they want them flown at CRJ-200 rates. First it was presented to SAPA (who told them NO) and now the Chief Pilots were told in a monthly meeting to sell it to the pilot group under the guise of "organic growth..."

So there you go.

So you're saying they'd hire me back at my old seniority number with accrued longevity? ha!

j/k...

my God, how do you survive there???
22$ an hour, 75h guaranteed?
then take tax away, no much left remaining.Less than 1500$.

it was already bad 10 years ago,and there were millions of pilots wanting to join them.
I will wait 2-3 years and see how the situation improve for pilots.
I don't care about jet at all.Looking for part 135 jet or turbprop.

I prefer to get 3000$ a month and live well and have a normal life until I die (and save money), than having 1500$ and not know if I can pay my food and rent.

Nice.

Everyone prefers more money. Make $1,500 ($ comes first in the US of A ;) ) but NEED $3k...you're living above your means. As is most of this country though. Got to keep up with the Jone's...

I can survive at $1500. Remember its only the first year. Anyway i sense hypocrisy in your statement so i wont bother to discuss much further with you.

Word on the street is SKW will hire 600-700 pilots this year. Many of the current crew is projected to time out by Oct-Nov. That being said they NEED pilots. If you are invited to the interview, it is yours to lose. They have a great HR, training staff. Every one here so far is completely dedicated towards their work with positive attitude and team work mentality.

We are hiring for a September 26th CRJ class and an October 3rd EMB class.
We have hired 366 pilots year-to-date.

yes hurry up to hire all these 1000h guys, in one year aiplane will stay grounded.

what the situation for ATP pilots ?they don't have their written test.
still I prefer a 3000$ flying job even if it's teaching and have a good life.

If you get the EMB class but the base that you want only has CRJ's how long would you expect to wait to get into a CRJ? Can you just wait for the next CRJ class?

Well, you could tell them you can't make the EMB class date, and they would assign you to a future class, and you could hope for a crj class... But I don't think many would recommend that. You'd just be giving up seniority numbers.

I think when I interviewed they had a 12 month seat lock, so you'd have to wait a year to try for the jet. Someone more familiar can correct me though.
