Any way to make money sitting in a hotel room

One of my high school friends got into day trading pretty hardcore after we all left for college. He's earned enough to move to Hawai'i and is putting himself through med school out there. Also bought (yes, with cash) a pretty nice 335i... apparently he figured out how to do it effectively.

Uh huh...same thing with actors....and musicians...and athletes....and even professional pilots. Very few are successful, but the ones who are, are ultra successful.

Yep...same thing with professional aviation.

I agree, I was too weak to weather the aviation storm. Only regrets are that I wont ever fly big iron. I need to call my old pall John and see if he will let me go up in his 707.

You could do what I do in my spare time, and all you need is a laptop—write novels.

Keeps your mind sharp, your vocabulary up, builds your memory (keeping all those plot details meshed), it's both fun and relaxing, and it's the only legal way you can kill people. Lots of people. Through all sorts of inventive means.

The most likely way to add income while you are sitting around is with an online webstore. You will need to decide what you want to sell and then go from there. Sell something you are interested in or that you can get a supply of.

Also I do know a pilot that has an internet porn site and he tells me that it is a real up and coming business. He recruits people to do live cam shows and takes a commission.

Other than that, I'm out of ideas.

I didn't think Epr0n was still viable as a money making venture. I think we can thank torrents and "tube" style websites for that. Although live webcams may be a good solution. I wonder how hard it is for him to recruit.

I've not been stuck inside the airport, so if one had an unusually interesting voice- perhaps reading Books on Tape?
That or start a website teaching English to foreign students.
I'm too chicken to be a pickpocket.

I just bought 6 government used computers off of govdeals.com for $300. I'm going to put a HDD in them , possibly put windows xp on them and sell em on eBay. I'm hoping to turn at least a 50% profit, but we'll see. They come with an LCD monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Sent from my iPhone using the power of bear stuffs

Ironic. I am sitting in my hotel room, reading about how to make money in hotel rooms. Perhaps an idea is to write a book about making money in hotel rooms and sell the book!

.......... that or maybe start sending emails telling people you have millions of dollars you need to ship out of Africa, but you need a blank check from them to pay the taxes.

Don't regret too much. After evey DC-10 trip the first thing I would do when I returned home was jump into my RV-4. Buddy flies the A380 and can't wait to fly his RV-8 which unfortunately is 4000 miles from his base.

Day trading has worked for me but it takes total concentration. Helps if you can find one or two stocks with a high beta, develops a pattern, and trades below analysts' projections. They are far and few between.

Worked for me, to the point that I totally quit flying and all ambitions to do it commercially. Have owned a couple planes and fly for fun.

Seriously it is a great way to make "extra" money. Most people fail becuase they treat as a hobby not a business.

Im always willing to help. Everytime I post something like this I get a few PM's and most people don't stay dedicated long enough to benefit from it. That being said Im still willing to help, thats about the only way I contribute on these forums. Anything worthwhile anyways.

Yeah the captain and I have been talking about that as well. I just feel I would be to stupid to do it or there would be a major stock crash while I was enroute somewhere. haha.

No I don't. You know why? The ones that know what they are doing arent too willing to share their exact secrets. I have videos that are good to watch for the basics and the terminology.

I've been doing this for 6 going on 7 years. Its not something you just pick up and get over night.
Agreed...my dad has this method and we've been "playing" with it...It works but summer has been so slow, so low volume that we're using virtual cash for now while waiting for fall as that should bring the US stocks back into full swing.

I have a couple of companies that i build & maintain their websites. Works pretty good on those down days but it seems like they always want a ton of changes right when I need to fly.
I can help you with that....that is, if you want to outsource hehe :)

Learn a foreign language and work as a translator (as in written translations). You're generally paid by the page, but an hourly rate works out to $50~100 / hr. Back in the day you needed a computer and a stack of dictionaries, but with all the online dictionaries out there, all you need these days is a laptop and your linguistic knowledge. Work anywhere in the world and no commuting — there are worse ways to earn a buck.

I can pretty easily make an extra $500-$1000 a month selling on Ebay.. but now the Fee's have gone through the roof compared to the old days.. and competition is out of control so profits margins are pretty slim making it a lot more work than before. It's still quite possible to make money there though. I had a full time business on Ebay and was making about 3-5K a month.. but it was a huge pain in the Ass.

I'm just getting started in this.. not really planning on making a living at it though after seeing how difficult it is to do so. I like it though.
