Inside JFK Term 5 TWA

Just had my crackberry so don't expect much from the pictures, but it was nice for the crews to let us in the still renovating Terminal 5.

Built in 62, it's amazing to be in. Hope they get the rest of it cleaned up soon, I guess JetBlue will be using it for some sort of lobby thing. "Flight tubes" were a nice touch.

The light wasn't awesome but that oval thing in front of the window was the oval flight board with the flippy letter things.

very cool! how did you get in there?

Old women trust me, I look like the kid next door. CA and I both got in, apparently it will be open soon enough.

Folks, it's beautiful, and it was more amazing with 4 whole people in there. Reminds me I was born in the completely wrong decade though.

I remember when it was TWA!. Walking to the gates in the tube was really something. Even nicer effect as you'd come back in the terminal. It's great that they'll open it soon. It's funny how you really appreciate/miss something when you don't have it anymore!

You walk around in awe (partially because it was devoid of all people save 4) at the true majesty that once was aviation. Then you walk back to the shanty town drop ceilings and horseshoe bus terminal gates at Delta's terminal 2 and 3. I hope the whole industry collapses and we get to start all over again.

They're workin' on it! :)

(But yes, I agree. I've seen better terminals at diversionary airports in Sudan that rival T2/T3.)

Awesome pictures! The TWA Terminal at JFK is easily one of my favorite architectural works in the world!

That's one thing that's missing in modern architecture.... ARCHITECTURE! :) Everything is designed with accountants in mind.

Your avatar scares me!

Did he kill the three people on his left or are they his offspring? Either way.
