PNCL's new CEO

I wonder how many management personnel will be cancelling or postponing their vacations this summer? The recent change to SAAB FO vacation schedules for the month of July is an example of poor planning, poor management and a complete and utter failure to LEAD...People want to be LEAD not managed! So, I call on management to lead by example and get this ship on the right course and STOP making excuses.

Damn it Scott, it's the PILOTS FAULT! RAWRRRRR

Stop making sense. We have an airline to run!

I just saw that. Wow...the memo is so insensitive and casual about it too, like lives and peoples family's plans mean nothing. Not even a "sorry for the inconvenience". We can now all say that this company makes children cry because you can be sure somewhere, some FO's kids will not be taking that trip to Disney World as promised. Maybe next year.

I think I could handle a head cold at disney world. I'm not so sure I could fly with it though.

It will be interesting to see how many people happen to be sick during the time they were supposed to be on vacation.

Company sent out a memo canceling all FO vacations in August due to lack of staffing. Also one airplane's worth of flying has been drawn down, about 300hrs or so.

Wow. That's unreal. All I know is they would have two additional FO's right now but they are still waiting on their checkride after starting sim 6 weeks ago.

I heard he sold a couple q's to raise $40 million and the leased them back

It's true. He sold them first day on the job!

Reduce debt = easier to finance new aircraft or grow other operations.

Another possibility is that it's easier to give the investors a piece of the pie they've been missing out on for years under Uncle Phil-clownshoes with more cash on hand. The complaints of them not hitting their earning marks time after time on conference calls may be an indication they are fed up with this dysfunctional company, and are ready for the payday they were promised year after year.

Of course it may all be sunshine and lollypops too, we'll find out.

I don't work at the shantyhouse stripmall we call a corporate headquarters so I don't know what the checks sent out for are. I believe you are saying we owe 35 million because we've already purchased enough Q's that we owe 35million to the Canadian government. Now I'm just a small time business but when I get accessed customs fees from a brokerage it's always after it crosses the border, in other words, when I send across or take it back. In this case we are buying something from Canada, as the story goes, and the Canadian government charges us for buying their airplane made in Canada? I don't think that's how it works. Now if we sold a couple airplanes to someone in Canada, say Siemens, there is a possibility that we would be accessed some duties or fees. If we were buying a bunch of Q's, which are Canadian, we'd most likely be paying customs fees to the US government. That may be what the Export Canada group is doing for us, lining up the funds for a credit toward the US government for a future purchase of Canadian equipment.

It's much more likely in my mind, that this money paid to xport Canada is for monies owed (from credits already issued) from previous purchases (like the Q's already taken delievery on whose customs credits have expired), or as a way to find loose change in the sofa (a buddy's words, not mine) to give to the investors.

The EDC is who owns the Qs. It's a Canadian government run bank. They lend money to businesses who buy Canadian exports.

PNCL owes them a lot of $$.

I see. Now if sean menke could fix crewweb so i could actually check my schedule....

It never ceases to amaze me how effective these cheap management tricks are on pilots.

Ooooo thats right that kind of stuff only applies to pilots...so what if it is a typical management tactic! what is so bad about hoping he does good things and has a good reputation, and like others stated his email actually seemed like he was a pretty good guy. Never said he was going to be amazing just pointed out that he seemed like a normal guy not a typical Management type. What do I know though I am just a pilot

I learned my lesson about expecting good things about managerial change when Leo Mullin came to town...

I'm cautiously optimistic. Then again, I'm also in the "Well, he can't be any worse than the last guy" camp. If he doesn't lie right to my face he's already improved. PT did that on a couple of occasions. Sad thing is, I don't know if it was intentional or if he just didn't have a clue what was going on at his own company.

I did read Sean's letter, and immediately thought "Hey, his first day sounds a lot like my last two four days. Welcome to Pinnacle."

As for hiring, I talked to one of the guys that does hiring the other day. In a nutshell, we're up a creek without a paddle. The insurance company won't let them lower hiring minimums to Eagle's level, and the guys with higher times are either already at other carriers or don't wanna do the regional dance. So, we're left with either guys that WANT to be based out of MEM, MSP, ATL, DTW or JFK (not a WHOLE lot of those guys), the college bridge programs (which doesn't pump out the numbers we need to keep up with attrition alone) or guys that other airlines won't hire.
