Congrats, Bro

I believe that pic is from my home stomping grounds - kinda, that looks like JUNEAU!

Great news!
Don't be surprised if your MC-12 slot comes down within the next year, though. Lots of C-17 guys there.

i heard that copilots were getting non vol'd to uas since they were overmanned....not even letting dudes upgrade to AC before shipping them out...that was like a year ago though i think.

we just had a lt in our squadron get a mc-12 deployment dropped on him 2 weeks ago and he leaves next month

What have I told you? Whats the gospel Ive been preaching?

ALL roads lead to the UAS, eventually. :)

To hear a C-17 friend of mine tell it, many C-17 pilots are VOLUNTEERING for UAS duty because the C-17 deployment sched/OPTEMPO is, they feel, too brutal.

Worse than slick-130s now?

I don't know the details...just know that it was happening according to him (a mid-level capt at end of first ops tour in C-17).

Perspective is somewhat useless when people are using this type of rationale for their career decisionmaking. It's not like you can tell a C-17 dude, "hey, stop bellyaching -- the Herks have it way worse than you!". It doesn't change how they feel about their pace of ops.

My bro Wes (alphaone) was just assigned a C17 to Charleston, his first choice!

There was a guy who was a dead ringer for you in the last AFA magazine getting out of a T-38, but the pilots name was Mike but the IP's last name was "your last lame". Funny coinky-dink!

Thanks again to everyone. As far as why the C-17, why not? It's new, awesome, and there is alot of them. They also have some sweet locations. Speaking of, anyone got some good dieas of where to live in Chucktown? I heard avoid North Charleston, but that's all I know so far.....

Hey, sorry to be late to the game but you might want to check out some of the newer developments in West Ashley. Close to everything and safe. At least as upscale (I think a good bit better) than Goose Creek/Summerville/Hanahan.

Congrats on a fantastic aircraft and base. There aren't many better places to live than Chucktown.

Congrats!

All the UAS and MC-12 stories are true.. BRAC'd F-15 guys are getting the same stuff dropped in their laps. Enjoy the C-17 while you can.

No kidding? There's a Lt Col out at Holloman with my last name. I think he's an F-22 guy so it'd make sense that he was flying around in a T-38.
