Citation 500 or 525 Type Rating Courses

I've heard that in Sanford, FL (SFB) you can get that type for around $6000.00.

I did mine at Chrysler Aviation in Van Nuys, one week, 8K. It was a good course - very informal. Getting the rating/ATP directly led to me 'rejoining the workforce' and where I am working today. (Although, it was the WIA that paid for most of it - except the money that I already saved up for an ATP. Looking back, I should have gone to Dallas for the 73 type instead.)

I went to Loft in San Diego for my 500 type. Everyone is very professional and helpful. If you do your homework, study and come prepared you'll be able to take full advantage of the instructors knowledge of the aircraft. It's nothing to in depth; they pretty much teach you the type ride.

Maybe they've been furloughed and are using government cheese (WIA) to get a type, maybe he wants one in the $5000 range because he wants his ATP and instead of going to all ATPs he'll just get a 500 type + ATP at the same time. Any number of reasons.
 
You're right ... any number of reasons. I guess I was thinking that some people get a type with the expectation that it will lead into a job ... if so, I would caution against such. If an operator "offers" a job based on the individual obtaining thier own training, I too would caution against that. I would also want to know what the insurance company for said operator would have to say ... in my experience the insurance company demanded simulator based training. Yes too many assumptions can be made with so little initial information ... again my concern is to protect the individual from needlessly spending money and against shady operators who take the easy way out.
 
Pan Am is offering a 320 type for $7495. Why not get that instead? Lots o'jobs that pay some serious scratch out there dying for guys with a type.
