AirTran Hiring in MCO

I just saw on the AirTran website they are looking for Dispatchers for Orlando FL MCO in case anyone is interested.

I saw something receently stating that the intergration will take place within 2 years. But I can't remember the site I saw it on.

This is one of the older numbers. I haven't been able to get a hold of new numbers for them yet.

14.01 without experience. 16.52 with experience.

Just left AirTran in '09. If you have any specific questions shoot me a PM. They just signed a new contract, so I am not sure what the new pay scale is like. The union is TWU.
I talked to a couple of people down there recently, and the intergration is still being worked out.

This is what I have heard about the TRS and SWA plan. As of a couple of weeks ago, Southwest owns Air Tran. TRS employees are contracted by SWA and they will have to apply to SWA if they want to keep their jobs when that time comes. This is what I was told by a friend that works at WN but there is no telling on what will happen. They will say one thing and do comething completely different.

I talked to some of the folks that interviewed in Orlando this past week and from what they were told, the dispatchers won't have to reapply at WN. Around June 2012 is when the migration begins to DFW, subject to change. Supposedly they will ask who wants to volunteer to transfer first to DFW, if no takers then the junior folks get sent over first. Management just guessed that the most senior dispatchers would stay the longest in MCO. Guess it would depend on if someone is selling or renting and when the lease is up. No word yet on any moving compensation package. I have a couple of friends there that will be commuting between DFW and MCO when that time comes.

Good Luck to those that interviewed

The Air Tran and Southwest dispatch groups are both unionized, so presumably the integration would be worked out through negotiations. However Southwest doesn't have the greatest track record in terms of "fair and equitable" integrations, but after the TWA buyout by AA where they stapled all the TWA to the bottom of the list and laid them off, there were some federal laws passed to prevent a similar thing from happening again. Time will tell but I severely doubt that any group covered by a union will be forced to apply for their job and start at the bottom of the list with Southwest...just my opinion.
