Drive From PWK

Wondering if anyone from the Chicgo area knows of a good neighborhood to live in that's no more than a one hour drive from PWK. I've talked to some real estate people but none of them even knows where PWK is. I was thinking Wrigleyville but distance does not always equal time in city traffic.

I grew up in chicago.

If you want the city or the suburbs, I prefer the city.

Yes Wrigleyville is amazing, along with Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Roscoe Village, Bucktown, North Center, Ravenswood...even more expensive and closer to the Loop (center of chicago/financial district, its called the Loop b/c the El [elevated subway] loops around this area several times] is the Gold Coast, Streeterville, Goose Island, University Park.

All of the above stated is going to have a 20-30 y/o range most in college or post college professionals, TONS of bars and nightlife, Plus you have Cubs and North Avenue Beach...Chicago is just amazing and I hope to be back in that area at some point in my life.

As for the northern Suburbs towards PWK, your looking at much older subdivisions, the North side is the older side of chicago, but great suburbs to live, I grew up in Naperville on the West side (bout 30 min from DT chicago) can't go wrong with either

I was in Chicag for St Pattys Day a couple years ago. Great town. I would want to live in the city for sure but I don't know if the Wrigleyville or Bucktown areas are within 1 hour of PWK. Downtown is farther but maybe offers better access to highways/freeways to the airport. Any suggestions?

Grew up in NW burbs around Chicago and did my PPL training out of PWK, what are you looking for city, or communities in the NW Burbs?

I'd say the previous post is best then. Otherwise, city atmosphere in the suburbs. Evanston, Arlington Heights, and Palatine all have good downtowns, with nightlife and young crowd.

Interesting, my wife and I are moving to Naperville from PHX next month!

You'll enjoy it, low crime, VERY VERY good schools[the public schools rival most private schools], great night life in Downtown naperville, great riverwalk that's modeled after the one in San Antonio.

I enjoyed it

I used to be based out of PWK. I lived in Arlington Heights and that place was pretty nice, but expensive I thought. Only about 10 min to KPWK airport. Easy to hop the train to go downtown too.

yeah, my wife actually grew up there, so we have family and are already pretty "embedded" into the community. Not so scary when it works out that way.

I"m guessing most parts of the city might be a little more than an hour drive from PWK with traffic?

Not necessarily....

The areas you mentioned (Wrigleyville, Lakeview) are located on the near north side of the city. During rush hour you're looking at about an hour....off peak times probably around 30-40 minutes.
