Airnet new hire

Just did a phone interview with Mr. White on Saturday, and I'm hopeful! He seemed like a very nice guy over the phone. Do they usually wait a few days and then decide whether or not to call you for an interview face-to-face? He gave no indication other than saying that he hoped I would have a nice weekend...

Great, now I'm getting nervous.

After the phone interview, do a follow up call towards the end of the week. Bill is a very nice guy.

I had a phone interview with him as well.. I think they usually offer you to come in for an in-person interview at the end of the phone call but I wasn't asked and haven't heard anything back. To make things worse I was at work when I answered and stupidly said 'yea i can interview now.' Soo I was dodging from cubical to cubical trying to avoid everyone in the office while trying to answer questions like 'why should we hire you?' But with everybody having multi-time going to the regionals maybe he'll call back, who knows. I really liked Airnet but I have a feeling I blew it. Ohh well.. I guess their not really growing, just hiring from attrition, so you'd get whatever base the guy who left had..but they do have a lot of good bases compared to most places.

I was in a restaurant when I got the call, I was talking over a fair amount of noise. I have done that "dodge the co-workers" run before though.

As for the bases, I did ask about that, and the answer was that you would bid for whatever was open.

I really hope that the norm isn't to ask at the end of the interview and was praying for that, mainly because it was a Saturday and he was away from his office. Airnet has been my first choice for quite some time, and I'm going to feel a bit crushed if I can't even get a face-to-face interview.

Not really sure why he is advertising on the job boards, we have been having runs close weekly! Not sure how many more will have to close before the company goes under!

This IS the same company that interviewed people on the day they furloughed about 1/3 of their pilot group. Our member Blizzue was one of those interviewed on that fateful day.

The airnet hanger at BDL is just down the road from my hanger and I went to visit the guys the other day. Same mechanic and loaders were still there, but they told me BDL doesn't have any of it's own runs anymore?

Ahhhh man. Forgot about that. Sucked waking up and the first thing I see in my inbox is the infamous email. Good reminder of memory lane.

When did you guys apply to Airnet to receive a call from Mr. White on 4/17/2011?

Applied at the end of March/beginning of April I believe.. Called and got a hold of Mr White the week prior and asked some questions. I think their in limbo at the moment, trying to maintain the status quo and hire pilots as necessary for attrition. I don't believe they are growing or expanding. Sounds like you could be stuck in a base or the same equipment for awhile. However, Airnet is still a good place to work and definitely better than most other companies.

Airnet's target customer is still banks and lab companies... in 2 years, it'll be just lab companies. Doesn't seem like good job security to me.

That was one of the major things that kept me from doing an interview with them. When I talked to Bob at ACE he said they were looking to keep everything stagnant, but the ultimate reality is that the bank work will disappear relatively quickly.

Still no word from Mr. White, so I'm guessing this is a no... Shouldn't they have at least sent a "Thanks for applying and good luck on your job search" email though? A bit disconcerting that they didn't.

The result of the furloughs of summer 2008 was AirNet switching its core business away from bank work and on to grow their footprint on radio pharmaceuticals, small expedited packages, blood/urine specimens, mice, etc. I'm sure it's still being flown in small quantities but I don't know of anyone who focuses on bank work anymore.

I think that as a condition of the bank bailouts, check 21 should have gone away, bringing a renaissance of the fine art of check hauling.
