Letters of recomendation

I am about to begin my training at Sheffield within the next couple of months and right now I am studying for my ADX test. I found the Gleim CD rom works wonders in studying, I am also saving up for the course. I am doing the distant learning since I will be in school by the time the 5 week course comes up.

I do have one question for some of you. Would a letter of recommendation from a retired Rear Admiral, or a Station Manager help me in the hiring process? One of the station mangers at my airfield told me if I need anything, let her know so I am contemplating on getting one from her or not.

Good luck at Sheffield. The best thing you can do for yourself now is to pass the ADX, it will drop the stress ten-fold when you get there. Letters of recommendation always help in the hiring process, especially if the person recommending you has a leadership position at the airpline you're applying for. Best of luck, work hard and you'll be successful.

Anything you can do to augment your status going into your first dispatch job is a good thing. The most important piece of your resume that will set you apart from the other applicants would, of course, be your Sheffield training. To be on the safe side, assume you're in the applicant pool with another grad and do what you can to provide character and professional references- it never hurts!

Make sure you get the list of 550+ questions from the Sheffield website (http://www.sheffield.com/FAA_test_prep.html) then you can create your own tests on the CD-ROM with those on the list for study. CD-ROM in conjunction with the list that they provide is the way to go; fail-safe.

I have the Sheffield CD-ROM that I was given and it has the test prep up to 2010, I just need to let them know that I am intrested in their school so I can get acess to the 2011 test. I am saving my money up right now for the distant learning program, I want to get into the september class if I can. Unfortunately I cannot do the 5 week program since I will be taking 2 months off of my current job to work on a feature film up in ATL along with a few other productions I have scheduled, but I will have vacation time in that time so I will be good for a 5 day course.
