SLI and furlough...

Looks like it's all in the hands of Mr. Bloch now. May 1st will be interesting.

IMO, it'll probably be mid-May before we hear anything. Bloch isn't known for his swiftness in aribration decisions. Good news is our three merger committees still have the thumbs up to meet while he's thinking it all over. If we haven't come to an agreement by now, however, I'm betting a few more meetings won't really make that much difference.

The arbitrator put a stop to it a day before. IMO, I think the writing on the wall is very clear. Why would an arbitrator pull the plug early? I think common sense would conclude that the 3 parties were too far apart and not gaining any new ground for him to want to stick around for the rest of Thursday and Friday. Sure, we can meet our XJ/9L counterparts, but I really don't see the 9 pilots coming up with one solution.

And, this looks bad. Cutting off early from an arbitrator sounds like when Pinnacle was put on ice by the NMB. It's when they think the pilots are being unreasonable, and get sent to their corners (on ice).

What will Richard Bloch do? I cannot even imagine.

I think its best we let the arbitrator decide. If one of the pilot groups gets an upper hand then everyone will be mad at them. If we let the arbitrator decide we can all equally be mad at someone outside the pilot group.

I think you might be reading a little too much into it. Parties too far apart that they couldn't come to a decision in a day? Probably. It's also just as likely he wanted to get his weekend started early if it looked like no deal was gonna be reached.
