SLI and furlough...

alex_trebek.jpg

Alright, Mr. Jynxyjoe, before we took our commercial break, you picked $400 under the "Drunken lessons" category. The answer is!

Screw it. I had always budget myself under the 1999 CBA. Any TA was a bonus.

I'd rather be standalone than take Mesaba's furlough burden.

We got a new JCBA, ok, good. BUT, if we didn't get a new JCBA, I'd be perfectly fine under the old contract.

*beep beep beep beep* Alex: Jynxyjoe!
Me: What are some things I said drunk in front of my co-workers that I'll regret in the morning?
Alex: That's correct!

Just checking in on you Chair-ohh-key, hope the headache isn't too bad.

Eh.. more like without PNCL another holding group owns colgan and it's Q's.

The Q's didn't come because Pncl bought us, but it was the holding company finances which allowed them to purchase them. It was this part of the contract (with cal) that Pncl paid for. They could have cared less about the EAS/ small market usairways stuff.

Why is everybody so worried about furloughs? The way 9l/9e staffing is, we need more pilots. If 9l (soon to be messaba) takes the next 15 Q's nobody is going to be on the street.

If you're an FO and your upgrade gets bumped a few months.. Tough. If I have to sit rsv for the next 5 years, that sucks. But I'm not going to bitch about it. Take what you can get and be happy, or find something else. If you don't like the way things are, talk with your feet, and leave.

And someone with a rational train of thought actually gets it!!

"Losing" in the SLI is actually Winning as it will make you more likely to leave quicker and get to your ultimate goals.

Also how you kill zombies.

They love Speed Metal/Screamo. It puts them in a trance.

Once you start the music, about 110db will do, short...controlled...bursts. You don't have to get all medieval on 'em otherwise you drown out the music and they re-engage.

Hahahahaa, well I guess we will see. I can cool down only for a lil bit. LOL

I booked a cruise for myself and the wife at the end of April / transitioning to May. I have a feeling that, depending on the outcome of the SLI, I'll be either buying drinks for everyone onboard or jumping off the 11th deck head-first into the water......

No no no man. Common. You can't make this so extreme a situation, as many have said above you have no control. Fly safe, fly the contract, control things you CAN control.

Have a good time out there though.

These threads are pointless. It's natural to think that your pilot group should be favored. What I don't get is why some take it so personal against other pilots. I can tell some of you are the type that shouldn't talk politics at the dinner table....

Hate to say this.....but I have to back CC on one thing: jets COULD go from XJ to 9E. It's right there in XJ's scope clause in their agreement before the JCBA.

As for the SLI, I have more pressing matters. Like renting my house and buying another one in Orlando. I have zero control over the SLI, so why stress over it? I'm either going to be okay, or I'm not. Odds are everyone will be a little pissed off by it. If that happens, it was fair. Of one group is really happy and another is miserable, it wasn't fair. Well, unless it's a bunch of guys hired in the last year or so that are just pissed because they won't upgrade by the end of the summer. If that's the case....welcome to the airlines. You'll get used to it. Goes along with the nail biting that comes with hiring waves, attrition, displacements and wondering if your management is gonna run your airline into the ground. You'll likely see all the above by the end of the year. Never a dull moment at Pinnacle Airlines.

Anyone that says they are in the know when it comes to what's going on with negotitions is likely blowing smoke. If it's a rep....they're either blowing smoke or talking out of turn from what I've gathered from the higher ups. NOTHING is supposed to be discussed about the SLI specifically for the rumor control reasons. Last we heard on a conference call was mediated negotiations wrap up on Friday. No deal by then, then it's in Bloch's hands and SHOULD be done by mid-May at the latest. Of course, arbitrators aren't really operating on a time line, so it could be later. The way things are set up, it actually hurts the COMPANY more than us the longer he draws it out.

Personally, I'm more concerned with the company getting my damn pay straightened out.

I'd love to see iPads, but neither 9E or XJ will be getting them soon. Yeah, I've heard the rumor XJ is getting them and we aren't. Makes no sense, IMO. I'm sure they've got a rumor that WE'RE getting them and the aren't. Word from the school house is it'll likely be next year sometime before they make it to the line pilots. Personally, I'm hoping to be gone by then, along with my pulled shoulder muscle from lugging around that bag with the ever increasing number of LIDO charts....

From what I understand, it's not that XJ is getting the iPad and 9E isn't, it's that it makes more sense to issue them first..

XJ will need CFM/FOM/Lido - a lot of the savings comes from not printing these, so they will get the iPad first..

Actually, makes sense..

I think we will have them by the end of the year..

Just to be clear to everyone Pinnacle could take our jets(41+19). They could take up to 40% a year, because of diminishing returns that'll take you about forever years. Some lawyers will tell you it's a set 40%-40%-20% since the word "remainder" isn't in there, so it's three years. Gives us a few months of delays anyway, when we want to burn up Pinnacles time and money.

Then they have to take the Mesaba pilots on the jet's with them which we have very little language for but it would be in the company's hand. Some Pinnacle guys interpret that to mean we could be offered ramp or janitor jobs or something and don't even need the pilot job (I'd take the CEO job). I think we've been back and forth on this one plenty, but simple to say our lawyer laughed at the prospect and gave us (given to me thirdhand) a handful of reasons that it can't happen. The best part was, current process would indicate that WE, the Mesaba pilots, would fly under our contract even though "absorbed" into Pinnacle. They would of course fight that, but another delay just helps us. Our contract language is/was not weak, we could still stall the process for a while and retain our jobs and pay. Let's say it was though, unless we are pretending Pinnacle is correctly staffed, they couldn't take on 24 jets a year, MAYBE 1 a month. The saabs left over, that are apparently not good enough for Pinnacle, would remain and the pilots would "receive" the Colgan planes since Colgan name is going bye-bye. Colgan would instantly get our old contract (about the same as what we have now on this JCBA, just some higher Q captain rates) and their pilots would be Mesaba pilots immediately.

Anyway, definitely some hurdles for everyone on all sides. The best thing is to do was create one contract one list. Something Pinnacle and Colgan probably should have already done before we even came into this mess.

Oh, I agree. 1 list is much better for everyone involved. Just remember we DID try the 1 list think with Colgan. Our scope grievance was first upheld and then shot down by the same arbitrator. Sorta like scoring the winning goal only to have the line judge call you offsides.

Are you kidding me? I missed that. Of course that was probably many years ago wasn't it?

Almost 4. God, I feel old now. It wasn't long after the initial Colgan purchase we filed the greivance.

Oh. Ok. Before I was even on this thing. Smeaglehoffüns probably mentioned it and I forgot it. Of course I wasn't real wild about the idea of a union back then either.
