Anybody know about any current opening in African charter companies.
I know there were lots and lots of opportunities in the past. And this year's season is about to start.
I am a fresh commercial holder, Africa bush flying can be a really helpful for me, I can have my first job there.
Please help..

Check out Air Serv International. I had a friend that flew Caravan's there for a couple of years and had nothing negative to say about it.

Well pack your bags and go to Namibia or Botswana, with your times they are really the only places you can get a job. the season (the hiring one) in Botswana already passed but for Namibia you may have couple shots. You do need to go there and knock at doors, nobody will hire you over the e-mail or phone..

Send me a pm with your mail, I have a document with all the companies and the chief pilots contacts on it.

you got mail!

Don`t send an e-mail, call them first and then send your stuff......don`t bother calling Bush Bird since they only hire German speaking pilots, well unless you speak German

I have more numbers and contacts of many other companies around Africa, but you need more TT.

whats the pay for that kind of flying? I looked at the employment breakdown and they say you only have one day of a week, thats just a little too much working without time off.

it`s not an airline, when you work you are not gone for days. You don`t really fly soo much, most sectors are 1-max 2 hours long, most of the time your are done for the day and you are free to do what you want, if you fly for their branch in Namibia you can be away for couple days.

I don`t remember the exact number but I think the pay it`s around 1500 US $ when you start on the C206/C210

If you want a bigger salary, and maybe fly some twin, look at nyassa air taxi

Meh, knew a guy who worked there, from what he told me, I'd probably stay clear.

If I wasn't going to fly 99s right now, I'd be looking for work in Africa probably, and if it were me, I'd actually try to steer clear of Bots and Namibia just on the basis that there are better jobs elsewhere. That said, if you've got 230hrs, well...that's what you've got and you've gotta take what you can get.

I have two friends that flew for Nyassa, they loved it, you get to fly different types of planes, but it is true that you don`t get to fly a lot.

This guys: http://www.flyuganda.com/ look for 500TT for a CFI position, and 1000TT for the charter pilot one.

I think Namibia is probably the best place to work (other then SA but it`s really hard to get a work permit). If you are lucky to be based in Swakopmund you will have a hell of a good time, the place is awesome, really safe and everything is European style, the quality of life is one of the highest in Africa. The companies have nice planes and MX is good. After building your bones on a C210 you may land a job on something bigger, a friend of mine that flew there for 1 year a C210 is flying a PC12 now for a new company over there. There are 3 companies with really good upgrade possibilities, one (West Air)depending on your TT will put you straight into bigger planes: West Air: other then the usual C210 (entry level job) they also have C310, C340, C402, F406, C208, 425, 441, Chieftains and King Air E90.
Wings Over Africa: other then the C210 (entry level job) they also have C310, C402, C208, Conquests and Chieftains
Desert Air: Aero Commanders and Caravans

99% of the pilot that go there go there with really low time 200-250TT and try to get jobs on the C210s, but there is a lot more if you have the TT. To get the work permit seems the govt wants at least 300 hours now...

Some of the companies require you to speak German (in parts of Namibia it`s the main language)

there is a lot more Namibia then what you read on pprune.

if I would pick a place, I would go to Tanzania, but you need TT, the govt will only allow foreigns with at least 1000TT to fly...well some companies may help you skip that ($$$->govt). there is a company in Dar that always hires low timers (they know how to handle the govt) on the C206 and on the BN2, lots of Europeans flying over there, in Arusha there is a local gas company that not long time ago was looking for C206 pilots and if you have the TT an Italian run airline with old ATRs..
