Pilot's Ties

Does your company allow you to wear the tie that you want with your pilot's uniform or are you required to stick to only black ties?

You have to abide by your company uniform standards. If you are issued a uniform tie as part of the uniform, you are required to wear the uniform tie. Some airlines make exceptions at Christmas, and let pilots wear holiday-theme ties for the month of December.

One is to follow our company's uniform standards as set forth in our FOM.

It is not too difficult...it says "The tie will be plain black wool, Dacron, wool/Dacron blend, polyester or silk."

And of course, some additional clarifications, as well as Speciality Tie wear dates (Patriotic tie, and Holiday Tie).

Gotta wear the company-issued tie (has the company logo, so you can't fake it).

Black tie only, however I have a very nice silk one, much better and classier than the usual horrible piece of string issued...

I've seen a few Chautauqua guys wearing them too. I almost wanted to point across the terminal and ask if they got on the wrong plane. :P

So only SWA pilots are proud of their country? Eagle lets you wear patriotic ties anytime as well. Other then that its the company tie if you want some variety. hehe

When I get my first freight dog gig, I'm going with this one:

I'll be sure to pre-soil it with coffee and 20W50.
