It's been said before but David Clark customer service rocks

Re: It's been said before but David Clark customer service r

It's good to hear all the positive DC stories. I've had one for 7 years and it has yet to develop any problems. I always recommend DC to my friends just getting started out in flying.

It is also great that, as far as I know, they are still made in Worcester, Mass., and not China. The company was also known for making space suits - they have a good record of making a quality product.

I never plan on buying another aircraft headset (okay, I do have a Telex for the gliders...)

... just got my set back today.. I thought they were brand new, but it is obviously still my headset, as my GOPro mount is still there.. Looks nice..

Note says they completely refurbed everything.. I guess $83 isn't too bad for a new cord, new ear pieces, new boom mic, etc.. etc.. etc..

Re: It's been said before but David Clark customer service r

I got a DC H10-80 (discontinued headset) for free. Finally worked up the courage to send them in to get refurbished after reading this thread, since the cord had been broken for the last couple years. It needs a new mic and cord, which will be $125 with shipping (and they're throwing in a new headpad and ear seals for free which would normally be another $50). Not terribly bad considering they were free... but in their email they said they were sorry they couldn't fix it under warranty but that the date of manufacture of my headset was 1985!

Holy crap! These things were flying before I was even born!!! +1 for another happy DC customer. :)

Re: It's been said before but David Clark customer service r

Just to follow up, my H10-80s came back. My 26 year old free headset now looks like a brand new headset (new mic, new mic boom, new ear seals, new cord and a headpad that was never there before). Not bad for 1/3rd the price of a new H10-13.4. Now if only it didn't feel like my head was caught in a vice... :D

Don't call em David clamps for nothin' ;)

You can bend the metal frame you know... ;)

Might just be me, but mine fit great (after some bending 10+ years ago). And the double-gel ear seals are a must.

But really, if you don't like how they fit, don't buy them. It ain't hard to borrow some for a few flights. Either someone you know has them, or the company has them in the cockpit anyway. (there's a pair of 10-30's in my "work" cockpit)

Oh I don't buy them and never will. My H10 13.4's were a great first headset. Greet customer service and a reliable headset. But horrible clamping force on the head and not so great hearing protection. You can bend the metal then they fall odd your head.

Re: It's been said before but David Clark customer service r

My microphone failed on mine a good year out of warranty. They decided to fix that and give me a new headpad and ear cups FO FREE, and they sent me some stickers so I could represent on my bike rack. If there is a company with better customer service in aviation than DC by all means let me know.
