Daytona Beach is a planespotters paradise in the spring. Sometimes when departures are on 16/34, you get some really good action over on ERAU's campus. I miss it.

I purposely flew South yesterday. So glad I'm based about 15 NM south of Daytona. :)

LAX ramps are like that today too......

Did you see any chew stains down the sides of those planes in DAB? ;)

I remember working the line at JQF during the races...ramp would be wing tip to wing tip with Gulfstreams, Falcons, Globals, RJ's, Challengers plus an entire fleet of Army choppers including Apaches, Blackhawks, and Kiowa's. Pretty cool sight seeing them all take off at once.

Ooooh, look, they're going around the circle again.....:dunno:

You think they get all confused with right traffic?

quite possible...not a huge fan of NASCAR but it is in teh tv right now. Just don't get it....Now that Grand Prix stuff I can go along with.....

I was sitting in Barnes and Noble on the other side of the track, and it about shook the building for about 1 minute straight.

Wait till the post race departure lineups.........gets busy fast when they all leave at once.
Luckily our passengers were smart enough to come back with about 20 laps left. Probably saved us about 1 and 1/2 hours. It was weird how they were getting traffic out of there. They had you taxi to W and hold short N, before you even get a clearance or talk with anyone. And you were advised not to call and they would call you. I guess they would use binoculars to get your tail number and then give your clearance and taxi instructions. I could tell it was going to be a major cluster during the mass exodus.

So glad I'm not down in that crap town anymore.

My brother always tells me this (he went to ERAU). Especially when the Daytona 500 rolled around, he'd constantly bitch about the traffic and large quantities of rednecks and other "interesting" people the event would draw.

There was definitely a surplus of "those" type of people. There were also a lot of religious fanatics talking on loud speakers. I guess they figured anyone going to watch a Nascar race is a heathen.

But they kept the city interesting. With bike week, speed week, and Spring break I bet GPAs dropped a point or more in the spring semester.
