Something that really sucks...

Just got back from putting down my cat. He was 20 and has been around literally my entire life. He was having trouble walking and even standing, so I know it was the right thing to do, but it still sucks majorly.

Thanks for reading, I know nobody really cares but I needed to vent a little :)

Wow. Not much faith in the membership here.

Losing any animal is tough. Humans could really take some pointers from pets in terms of unconditional love and friendship with no judgement.

Haha yes looking back on that I realize I didn't word it too well...I realize you guys are a tight-knit group and would go seriously out of your way to help each other out, and I think that's part of the reason I joined in the first place.

Thanks for the support. Just thinking back on it is amazing, I remember being 5 or 6 and being scared because he was trying t bite my toes under the covers in bed cause they looked like mice :laff: I know 20 is seriously old, pretty amazing that he lasted as long as he did. It was definitely his time to go, just sucks anyways.
 
I'm so sorry you had to put your buddy down...My first cat is 15 (I got him when I was 35), and I get misty eyed just thinking that we won't have him much longer....very sad :-(

If something happened to the family dog...I'm not sure what my mental state would be, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be fit for much of anything.
 
I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how difficult making that decision is. Hang in there.
 
We had to put our kitty down when I was 19.. we'd had him since I was 4. 17 years later I still miss that cat.
 
I had to put my cat down 7 or so years ago-not easy...I don't even want to think about putting one of my dogs down....
 
A child-hood cat of mine just passed away 2 days ago..(Lived with my Dad) so I can empathize...sucks bro. sorry.
 
Sorry to hear this man. Pets can truly become just like family. I do not look forward to the day I'll have to put my two little guys down. Hang in there.
