Brown MD-11 Cockpit Configuration

Rode on a brown MD-11 a few nights ago. Does anyone know why their cockpits are configured differently than any other airline? (i.e. thrust levers)

Cuz' its UPS...that should be enough for anyone who works with them to understand.

I know they have at least one MD-11 that has white thrust levers its an ex JAL bird..The white levers kinda look like the old L1011 type thrust levers.
