holy crap... -33*C out today. HOT DAMN! One of my most hated flight to date... these damn 172s just don't warm up!

I hate this place.

This is all.

I show my sissified west-coast upbringing in this weather...two winter jackets, thermal baselayer under my uniform, electric socks, ski mask, and bomber hat. I've gotten better, I remember breaking out all that gear when it was about 25 degrees (above) as a freshman. That's sweatshirt weather for me now :p

Nah, it's not too bad. Imagine how Antarctica feels. It's not uncommon to see temperatures approaching -100°F with wind chills down to -150°F over there.

Yeah, it is truly not that bad if you dress properly. This is my first winter here and Im from Ohio so this is all new to me, yet im not breaking down and dreading having to go outside. I think its part of the adventure of North Dakota.

Does a hoody count as dressing properly?

Im from Ohio

Me, too. I remember, during my first semester here, talking to one of my friends (from Minnesota) about the day when it got down to -13°F in Cleveland, and I said that it was weird how the moisture froze on my nose hairs when I was breathing.

They seemed a little shocked and said, "You've never had that, before?"

"Uh... that usually doesn't happen where I'm from." :)

Note to self: don't offer fellow flight instructor FREE food after weather takes money off his paycheck.

Further note to self: work on upper-body strength for next time middies10 puts his car into a snowbank :insane:

You're complaining about the C172! It's a sauna compared to the PA28! I did a night xc a few years back in a warrior with heat on "full" at -38C at 5500. No heat... at all. Plus with the gaps in the doors and windows, we had airflow. Very close to overnighting in BJI.

I flew a Seminole down to STP tonight :D
