UsAirways Flight Benefits

Why is it sad??? Is that to imply that because the rampie doesn't swing a gear knob that he isn't as integral to the operation as you?

That's not what was meant. Basically, if I were to non-rev from MEM-MCO tomorrow, even thought I've been an "intergral part of the NWA/Delta operation for 5 years" the ramper that just got out of training for Delta last week would bump me.....and probably his mother, too. In fact, the guy that shows up 10 minutes late to the gate with a wheelchair for the passenger would bump me if their considered a Delta employee.

UA isn't much better. UAX boarding priority on mainline and UAX carriers other than your own is below buddy passes. On our own metal, we're #1, but other than that, only ahead of other airline employees. Oh, and of course if you aren't listed with your buddy, even on your own metal, UA buddies bump them.

Sad thing is, I think we're even behind mainline for non-reving on our own metal. Jumpseating is different, but if your family is going from MEM-LEX or something similar on a 9E airplane, they could get bumped by a ramper who's been working at mainline Delta for 3 days' girlfriend.

We ride S3 on our aircraft as well as Delta. DOH will prevail who gets on the flight. Usually that means Delta guys since they have lots from the 70s-80s. But you and your family will get on before the junior ramper.

Okay. I never non-rev since the flights are so full, it's more or less useless anyway. We're driving to Florida on vacation in March.

Are you gonna take advantage of these upcoming displacements (if it comes to that) to move back there?? I always see you talk about it on the boards and it sounds like a good deal to take if someone wants to relocate.

If I get displaced, then yeah, that's exactly what I'm going to do. I'd rather take my time, save up some $$$ until I can get a decent downpayment on a house rather than having to pull the trigger in a couple of months. The commute from MEM-JFK is horrible since there aren't any direct flights other than LGA and EWR. I do know that there are more than a couple of MEM CAs that will go back to the right seat before they commute to JFK or DTW.
